Legendary Edition news: Discount and Release window.

Current owners of Blood Bowl (standard and Dark Elves edition) will be receiving a 30% discount on any digital purchase of the Legendary Edition. Also stated is that they will release the game around October 28 for $40 USD.

That $10 deal doesn't seem like it was such a bad idea in hindsight does it? Sure 30% of $40 is $12. And even though that's a very small savings, it's still money you don't have to shell out.

Let's just hope that they don't discontinue the online multiplayer for the dark elves edition once the successor is released. As the real fun of this game probably is in the multiplayer part ("probably" because I can't yet get it to work...but all the AI does is caging the ball all the time, so there is not much variation in single player matches), shutting down the servers for this game would be like having paid 10 bucks for a 2 month trial.

They aren't going to shut down the servers for the Dark Elves Edition. The FAQ state that both versions of Blood Bowl will be able to participate in the game lobbies but they won't be able to play one another.

Exactly, they will not be shutting down the servers.

However, if you want to be worried about something, be worried that there may not be anyone to even play, with there being a likelihood that they all buy the Legendary Edition.

I don't think it has been confirmed that you'll still be able to get the 30% off through Steam? But I suppose it doesn't matter much since you'd just be able to buy the digital edition off of Cyanide's store using your CD key from Steam BB and then link up the LE CD key to steam, assuming it comes out on steam straight away, right?

It'd have to be off the CD Key. The original, non dark elf version was retail. So they can't just do it from purchases from their store. Well they could... but they'd annoy more people than they pleased with the offer. :)

I'm glad to hear those who already have the game get a reduction. Although at the same time kinda sucks this will really make the edition most of us have obsolete =/. So basically I'm paying 28~ for an upgrade to my version. I guess I shall just think of it as an expansion.

Both people will be able to play games together through the lobby system. Check out the official site forums for comfirmation - so even if you aren't planning to use that discount and upgrade straight away there will still be plenty of people to thwack on the playing fields in multiplayer.

Will the current version and Legendary version co-exist?
Players will be together on the lobby, they will be able to see and talk to each other, but they will not be able to play against each other.
