Hi I recently reinstalled hl2 deathmatch after I have stopped for years now
I have played about 2 hours me and my friend and both at least the game crashed 10 times
the game crash without error it just exit the game I dont know why...We have both win xp
I have an nvidia 9800 GT (1GO) 2 Go ram and core 2 duo (2.2)
I can run css at high settings and high fps 200+ but hl2:dm no I have about 100 fps...
I dont care about fps but I want to know why 90% of the crashes that happened seems to be related to server I have tried to change many servers but same problem and most of the servers that I have join when they are nearly full there is chocke
I dont know but I think hl2:dm is f**ked up
plz help what do you recommand ?

LOL, well this statement is correct to a certain point but your crashing must be taking place due to something on your end of things. I don't know too many people who have crashed all the way to desktop but I do know there's been quite a few "client timed out" errors lately. Not sure what's causing that. Anyway, did you try verifying your game cache files (can't remember exactly what it's called)? Are all your files up to date? I would start there and see what happens.

yes ... I'm not a newbie pc user so give me advanced advices or fix it if it's a bug ... and like I have said I dont think it's something on my end you know why? well how the hell can 2 users crash exactly at same time ? and so many times ?
note: we have both downloaded recently the game 2 days ago I think so yes my files are up to date ...

The game is ♥♥♥♥ed up = fact.
Now get used to it and wait for a possible update.

I just don't believe for a second that it's a server problem especially since it's happening on many servers. I would blame Steam updates before a server. I still think it's a problem on your end. Maybe your computer can't handle it anymore!:p

Try this server, if you get less choke here then its becuase your rates are wrong. In this server they are fixed at the level i set.
General Rule of thumb for ya
cl_updaterate 67
cl_cmdrate 67
rate 66000
These settings should give you no choke in all stable 66 tick servers that havent been noobed up by someone.
100 tick
cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101
rate 100
Thats for 100 tick servers.
Not saying this will fix your crashes, but give me some feedback and we'll go further.

I told U I'm advanced user not a newbie one to tell me that my rates are not fixed ...
anyway at this time I'm busy I will reinstall everything on my computer and try again tomorrow ...
@dbanimal : if my computer cant handle it anymore it wouldnt even start or lags like hell and I will not be able for about one hour then crash at same time me and my friend for many times...

I'd like to know why the game just won't run properly without advanced configuration.

Calm down there Buckwheat!! Notice the "sticking out tongue" smiley at the end of my last post? I was merely joking about your PC performance.
I too have recently noticed an increase in the amount of people crashing. I have crashed a few times as well, on my server and other servers. I still don't believe it's a server problem but I could be wrong. Maybe it's time to talk to the dedicated server people and see if they have had any issues lately.

I brought this up in another forum and this was one response:
close out of steam(steam->exit) not just X out.
go into your steam folder and delete the following files.
steamclient.dll
clientRegistry.blob
steam.dll
steamUI.dll
open steam, it will start downloading these files. its like a reboot of steam. sometimes one of those files will get corrupted. might help, might not, but give it a try.
Don't forget your password as you will have to log back into your Steam account. And yes, we know you're an advanced user and not a "newbie" so don't bother reminding us.
