View Full Version : What's the point of manual saving?

i thought it allowed you to continue exactly where you saved and left, but all it does is return you to the very beginning of the zone you were in, with all the enemies respawned and all souls collected - missing.

as far as i know, the game saves automatically when changing a zone or starting an important event. so why the save button in the menu?

The point is, you normally have 1 auto save. If you wish, you can create several saves in different phases of the game. It's same on consoles. So you can instantly hop into your favorite boss battle after completing game.

I still have my souls and collectibles when I load a manual save. Are you loading the save from the menu or just clicking continue? I think clicking continue will load the last autosave so you have to click on load and pick the save you want to load manually.

ah, THAT works. however the autosave is still stupid.
i get to a location, the game uses autosave, then i load a previous save to check smth out and load back the autosave. and guess what? the autosave was OVERWRITTEN when i loaded a manual save. wtf? what's the point of that?! now i have to re-do a very long and difficult part -_-

k, how you use that system without losing your progress is pretty simple. after autosave, BEFORE you load an old save file, do a manual save. presto.

Think about it: autosave only saves the last checkpoint you went through, so if you load up an older save and then go through a checkpoint, what do you think the autosave function will do, since it is only allowed one slot?

i already figured it out, thanks :)
i wish there was more save slots though. i mean come on, this is the PC version. we're supposed to have infinite save slots. it's just that i like to keep saves with memorable moments

So would quicksaves, quickloads, more than 3/4 hotkeys which don't needlessly use a modifier key to toggle between sets and of course, advanced video options (negotiable).

I mean it did take 5? months to port to PC, where are our standard PC game features? I don't see what the wait was for, unless it was to avoid piracy.

i cant speak for k/m controls as i played this on 360 first and used a 360 pad on my pc - felt pretty fantastic on that end, naturally.
