Abyssal Armor problem needs more attention

this is the PC support thread on the official forums. i thought this problem would be fixed faster if it was posted there.

problem is, i tried registering here like 3 times. first it said try again later, then it said i had to enter my birth date (which i did), now it simply doesn't send me the activation email. could smb register there and post about the armor not appearing in the new game?

we'll keep this thread updated with the answers we get on official forums

Hello,

At this point the only way to get the armour would be to replay the game again and get the armor. It would be best to do this on a different saveslot to guard against the possibility of this being caused by damage to the savegame.

At present we have no information as to whether or not there will be a patch released to address this issue or if it is even something that is possible to be patched.

That's just...sad. There would be no reason whatsoever for it not to be patch-able. If it's there for the consoles, it can most definitely be available for the PC version as well. Same...bloody...code.

thats the funniest thing - it wasn't quickly ported at all. they even delayed the port, which should have been out by June. but i'm not mad with them tbh. there aren't any gamebreaking bugs and it's optimized well

I think he misunderstood this thread, and thought it was about getting the armour in the first place, not playing with it again in a new game.

So you might just be out of luck. Also, would that even work, replacing saved-games, since it's Steam and all?

I just got the complete set, and I'm playing with it on this first playthrough. I haven't finished the game yet (very close to), so I don't yet know if I'll encounter the new game bug, as well.

yes, everyone can get the armor. but not from start of a new game

That's kind of the point of this thread.

You can collect all the armour pieces and get the bloody thing while playing. The thing is, on the consoles, if you indeed collected all the parts for it, upon starting a new game, you would be asked if you wanted to play with the armour from the start. We aren't given that option.

Well, I just finished the game, and immediately after tried to start a new on Apocalyptic difficulty, and indeed I was not given the option to use the Abyssal Armor.

I can't say it's a huge problem for me personally right now. I won't be replaying it anytime soon, if at all, since I very rarely play games more than once regardless of how good they are. However, I really do hope they patch it and fix this as it really seems a very silly thing to overlook, so hopefully they'll do right by their customers and release one as soon as possible.

Either way, awesome game! I haven't had any problems with it in ~20 hours or so of gameplay, save for one crash nearing the end. This was an immensely enjoyable game!

I finished the game. Got all Life shards and Wrath shards and collected the whole Abyssal Armor. Once I was done with the game on Normal and the credits rolled, I came back to the Main Menu. I selected New Game (the game said my current auto-save will be gone). Then I was asked to select the difficulty. I went for Apocalyptic - once I clicked it a new prompt popped up asking if I want to play with the Abyssal Armor equipped and that the choice won't be reversible. I said yes. When the new game started I could see War already has the Abyssal Armor equipped.

You guys did actually click on Apocalyptic? And not just go into New Game and saw no prompt there? Right? The question about wearing the Abyssal Armor won't show up until you click on Apocalyptic.

EDIT: Game is cake with the armor btw. Even on Apocalyptic. Every second slash heals War... Yeah... There's no way you can die :P

Apparently it's not a bug that is guaranteed to happen. My only question is, did you watch the full credits without hitting Enter ever? I do not know if I did or not. I did watch the full credits. Actually, I just shift-tabbed and started to read on some of the lore entries on the Wikia :p The credits were rolling in the background when I was reading up.

I didn't do several things though:
- kill 150 things with environment (doing it now on Apocalyptic)
- Battle Hardened (loaded an earlier save, just before going to the Destroyer and farmed the last things)
- the Blade Geyser achievement (did it when I was farming for Battle Hardened :p)
- kill 160 things when flying on the griffin (did it on Apocalyptic)

I also have the 3 hidden ones to do (well, 2 :p). And the game is very easy with the Abyssal Armor from the start... I just do the AoE Scythe attack and that heals me up like mad.

Playing with a wireless Xbox 360 controller btw, so no enters and mouse clicks for me ;)

lol recommendation since I am sure that Dark Rider is one of the ones you don't have done yet - since you're on gamepad, rubber band the thumbstick and afk. Saw that on another forum by a console player, I played with K&M and I should have done what they did. SO MUCH TIME WASTED lol!

Apocalyptic is the difficulty...
He meant that the difficulty selected had no bearing on whether or not the bug manifests.

I didn't get the option to use the armor even after selecting Apocalyptic difficulty for a second playthrough, either.

My question still remains: Can other people's saves be used? Ive tried a couple from other people but the filesizes simply didnt match up - 6kb instead of around 50kb like my saves. those simply showed up as corrupt.

anyone with an abysmal armor save on apocalyptic woud be earning big karma points if you uploaded a file for me from anywhere near the start of the game :)

That doesn't help anymore mate, if it ever did, because of the patch that's been applied to Darksiders. The files are seen as corrupt.

Good luck with that! I tried to register there too and never got the reply to activate the account.
Anyway, I checked the forum every now and then and so far not one of the technical questions in the forum got answered by the developers. Its all trial and error by the community.

Also the provided Savegames of other users are not compatible to Patch1.1.

I would appreaciate if someone could upload one that works with 1.1 (and so the steamlauncher) too!

I got the armor on normal difficulty soon after I started a new game, and nothing. However I did start a new game with Apocalypse setting so it maybe you need to start a new game with the same difficulty you got it the first time. Or it may just not be available for PC.

I have no idea why it works now, but I just finished the game for the 3rd time, 2nd time on Apocalyptic, and NOW the Abyss Armor is there. The difference this time in how I played was that I made sure that I never missed a piece of the armor the whole way through and Eden was my final piece. I also finished it much faster (~11 hours), despite getting every artifact, health, and wrath upgrade. That shouldn't make a difference (hell, NONE of it should make a difference), but who knows. It's clearly bugged somewhere, but maybe I just accidentally found my way around the bug?

So I did everything in order (picked up the last piece in eden before talking to the tree and so before taking the first armageddon blade) - still it doesn't ask me if I want to play with apocalypse armor. I expect it should ask you right away when you click new game? Cause I played the whole apocalypse and it didn't ask me. Or does it ask you when talking to vulgrim first time?

I'll upload my savegame (apocalypse difficult, 9/10 armor pieces, 3/4 legendary enchantments) when entering eden in about 2 hours(have to go now). Maybe it works for some1 else.
could be that I picked up the 4/4 legend enchant after completing the armor set? who knows..

Yes, mine is from 1.1. Not sure why it comes out as corrupt for you though. :/

I even tested it by deleting everything Darksiders related on my computer, including option files and all my saves to make sure it would work. Worked fine on my computer, so I'm wondering what about this file doesn't transfer to someone else's computer properly.

Yes, that save game is from after choosing a new game and having selected to play the game with Abyssal Armor. I believe I started it on Apocalyptic. As I was saying before though, it might just be a fluke that I got it working.

tried yours too now detart. didn't work - says "Corrupted Content" - I even think thats another error message than when you use an 1.0 savegame. Not sure tho.

If not then this whole idea of savegame sharing is useless anyway - maybe because savegames are Steam-account or Pc Username bound or something.

Seems this is a problem that will never be fixed. I started a new game for a third time finished both previous games with the Abyssal armor and I can't get the option to use the armor in a new game.

I searched other forums, I can't get a email back when I try to register for the official Darksiders forums. I think they are busy with Darksiders 2 and have abandonded Darksiders.

Funny thing is they still sell copies and make money on it but ignore any problems. Way to go THQ - Vigil games!
