So I'm playing multiplayer online with a friend right now and I just looked around and it doesn't seem like there's a save option. It's not in the menu, and my lovely "quicksave" shortcut also does not work.
Are you telling me that you can't save online games with friends or something?

It's quick saving automatically.

There are auto-saving in MP but there is no manual saves.

Okay, how would I access these saves?
Are they ever turn?
Also, I have a difficult time trusting auto-saves since they've failed me in single player...

Just tested this - while in a multiplayer game, hit 'ctrl + s' to save the game. If you load this game from the menu, you will immediately lose it.
However, if you host a new multiplayer game, there's an option down at the bottom that says 'load game'... but it only allows you to use local autosaves, not games saved to the steam cloud. And it auto-saves every 5 years (although I know you can set that interval for single player games, so maybe you can change it for multi as well)

Actually there is a way to load these saves.
After you save and have quit the game using the Ctrl-S method above go to the save game folder. Win 7 64 bit the location is as follows:
C:\Users\'username'\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves\Multi\savedgame.Civ5Save you can substitue savedgame as any name you choose, eg. jimandbob, martinshelly, superawesomegame etc.
Change that file name to:
AutoSave_savedgame.Civ5Save
and move it into the 'auto' folder which is in the same folder as that file. The final destination should look like the following:
C:\Users\'username'\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves\multi\auto\AutoSave_savedgame.Civ5Save
You will now see your manual save when you load back up and restart it with your friend.

Thanks uglyduckling81 for that multiplayer save game workaround.
Take note others that the file name must start with "AutoSave" in order for it to appear in the list of auto saves.
