View Full Version : DoD Screen Off-center Issue

I bought Dawn of Discovery some time ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. The I bought the venice add-on, and enjoyed that too.
However, I recently uninstalled them both from my internal HD and reinstalled them--along with the rest of my games--to an external HD (a buffalo one, though I'm not sure if that is relevant to my issue). Now when I try to play, the games launch with the screen off-center (this starts with the ubisoft logo, and continues all the way to the main screen). I've even tried playing with it like that in window mode (I can't set up a continuous game in fullscreen because the buttons are off-screen), and I can't use the mouse to move the screen.
I've tried reinstalling, many times. Has anyone had a similar issue? I could really use the help!

I just install my DOD on the external HD. I had no problems with mine, but I'm running 3.0 USB too. I looked on all of the Anno help forums and I can't find anything on this problem. Does all of your games do it or just DOD? Have you tried to change the screen resolution. Is the vertical symchronisation On or Off. If it is off turn it On.

Thanks for responding. No, the rest of my games have no such issues, as far as I can tell, its only DoD. I looked at the vertical synchronisation (as best I could, given most of the options panel was off-screen, even in window mode), and from what I can tell it was on, though I may have just turned it off on accident. Your comment regarding the HD made me think of something though--I'm using a 6-pin firewire, not a USB. Would that have any effect on my problem? I'd really rather keep the firewire if possible, my games run faster with it than with the USB.

I don't know if this will help but check this out.

Plus usb 2.0 is really faster than firewire. But firewire does seam to be a better connection.

I followed the instructions and opened it in window mode. Unfortunately, no difference. The image on the screen or in the window is shifted down and to the right, with everything that is off-screen simply being cut off--like the screen isn't big enough (I can't expand the window, either). Replacing it at the top is a nice white bar that does nothing for me. Still, thanks for the link, it was worth a shot.
Also, I know USB is faster, but firewire is continuous, whereas USB is not.

Update: I learned that there is nothing in the DoD "config" folder. Or, more specifically, there is nothing in the "game" subfolder of the "config" folder. Thing is, the game still starts and runs, and I can even set up a continuous game and play. Does this seem wrong to you too? Or am I missing something?

Yes it is wrong and I'm going to keep looking because I thought I read something about this same problem in one of the forums.
