NBA2k11 comes out on the 5th, and on many sites it says its coming to PC!!!

When can we order this game on PC?????
I was going to preorder the xbox or ps3 version, but I would get the PC version if I knew you could get it on STEAM.

Anyone know when they are doign to start selling preorders for NBA2k11 for PC, on steam?

If I remember correctly, MLB 2k10 was late to arrive on steam. This might be the same thing.

It's almost release time and i can't find any information if this game will be on steam or if it will use steamworks.
2k games are all using steamworks recently but maybe this wont be the case to sports games :(
To bad developers dont count sports games for pc ....

No stores are selling it? I found these within 1 minute. Please do research before posting.

The game appears to be releasing same day with the consoles. I am trying to figure out if it will be coming out on Steam?

i said "nearly no sites", i didnt not say "no site sells the game".

MANY stores dont sell this game in its PC version, NBA 2k11 is not listed, steam beeing one of them, gameplay.co.uk, zavvi, amazon.co.uk, etc...

this lack of distribution for a major title is strange.

thats why i speculated about what this issue could be due to.

i hope they are not dropping the ball on the Pc version like EA.

(although fifa 11 is coming out on PC with the same engine as the console versions, its a very very nice port)

hlhbk just posted 4 links to the PC version for you, how can you still be worried that the PC version is dropped? EA publicly announced that they won't do PC versions for almost all their sports games. FIFA sells well on the PC I assume, so that's why they still release it.

I'm sure NBA 2K11 will be late on steam, 2K was late getting MLB 2K10 on Steam too, as I said. Just be patient, I mean we are still getting a better deal with it being cheaper than consoles yet having the exact same game (maybe better graphics the only difference).

oh,im not worried about NBA 2k11 not coming out to PC, im worried about them not giving enough attetiont to the PC version.

this is how EA started to do with NBA live, and it finally died off...

anyhow, its all good, i found a stie where i can get it for 20 euros, ill think ill pass on the steam version.

Ok well added to the Steam registry or not, why the hell isn't Steam listing this game for sale/pre-order yet? Or at the very least on the "Coming Soon" tab?? It comes out in like 12 hours officially and a lot of peeps already seem to have the console versions due to some store's "early release". I can't understand why they wouldn't be promoting this awesome game ahead of time on Steam with the very reasonable $29.99 price tag and the review scores and quotes. It could really increase the interest and sales of this game on the PC with a good Steam advertisement campaign.

This happens often with certain games. It was like this last year with 2K10. Also Valve cannot place it on pre-purchase without the go ahead from 2K so that would be an issue you'd want to bring up with them.

Oh I know. All of my beef was directed completely at 2K Sports, not Valve or Steam. I know that the lack of advertisement, pre-orders, etc. is all 2K's fault. That was my point. They promote the shiz out of the console versions and they purposely let the PC version fade into obscurity. It has been proven countless times over the last few years that a strong advertisement campaign on Steam for a good game can result in some seriously unexpected big sales. There have been countless titles to come out on Steam this year alone that the developers or publishers of the game didn't expect that great of sales for and yet they did a main page advert on Steam anyways and next thing ya know that title is listed on the Top Sellers column for a good week or two and sells tons of copies.

Look at the Football Manager series, that always sells well on Steam and they always do a strong advert on the main Steam page at release time. NBA 2K11 is very reasonably priced at $29.99 and the reviews have been VERY good on it. That price is just right for Steam users. If 2K would pull their heads out of their @$$es and actually promote the PC version on Steam I think they'd be REALLY surprised at how well the PC version of this title can sell. Just my 2 cents... The way 2K Sports goes about the PC versions of their titles is so ret@rded.

P.S. Damn Censorship ;)

It's simple really, selling the game at a much lower price point on the PC doesn't improve profits compared to the console sales.
Selling the PC version at 60 will only encourage more piracy.

So the compromise is to avoid giving the cheap pc version any head start against the overpriced console version. There's a good chance some potential pc buyers will get the console version instead, if pc versions are not available or sold out.

The 30 dollar version would have sold like crazy in pre-order if it had been available taking a dent out of console sales which is not what 2k wants.

So I just went to Walmart (im in Canada) and guess what?
They had two copies of the PC version and about 50 of the console versions!

So I got a pc version and a 360 version!!
cant wait to play it!

Go to your local walmart, they should have pc version!
Only 29$!

Also it doesnt say STEAM on the box of NBA2k11 like it did in previou years, that might be why its not for sale on steam yet.

While I see your logic in your point, it still doesn't make much sense in my opinion. Completely hide the PC version of the game because they decided to sell it at a cheaper price in order to try and boost sales of the console versions? I can't believe many people wanting NBA 2K11 on their Xbox 360 or PS3 would have opted for the PC version simply because it's cheaper. Some maybe, but not enough to warrant purposely hindering PC sales. Most people who play the 2K series games don't even play games on their PCs and the majority that do, probably don't have a 360 controller for their PC. There is a pretty definitive line between console and PC gamers. That is part of why they price the PC version so much cheaper to begin with.

Prime example of my point would be Dead Rising 2. It's been HEAVILY advertised on Steam and has done extremely well in pre-orders and after launch sales. They are selling it for a whole 20 dollars less than the console versions. I find it very hard to believe that all of the sales they have been getting on the PC version could have possibly undercut the bottom line because each of those copies went for 20 bucks less than the console counter parts. By your logic in your post above, Capcom is shooting themselves in the foot by pushing the game on PC at a 20 dollar less price tag because it would take too many sales away from the console versions at the higher price tag. I just don't see that.

If anything I'm quite certain Capcom turned a lot of PC gamers onto a game that they probably had little to no interest in before. Dead Rising 1 wasn't even on PC. I wish I had real numbers from Capcom to back my argument here. But I'm willing to bet almost anything that their push on the PC version of Dead Rising 2 has been nothing bust positive for the game, their company and their overall sales of the title. There is no way the PC version doing well hurt the overall revenue generated for Dead Rising 2 because it costs less than the console versions.

2K Sports just hates PC and gives the platform no respect, that's the bottom line here. It's always an after thought for them and the only way they can justify that is by making the game cheaper because NO ONE would buy it on PC with their terrible PC support and the small community of players if they charged full price for it and they know that. You could barely find people to play with online in the PC version of 2K10 and the ONLY mode that even worked was quick games. The rest of the game's online modes were completely broken at launch and STILL are over a year later! Console owners of 2K10 got very important patches that addressed game breaking bugs within a month or 2 of launch. PC owners didn't get that patch until this past summer, 8-10 months after the game released. 2K's PC support is simply disgusting.

I'd shell out the extra 30 dollars for the Xbox 360 version strictly based on that principal alone. And I hate consoles, I don't even own a 360 but this game makes me wish I did. The online aspect of this game is what makes it what it is in my opinion. 2K's support for online play in the PC version of 2K10 was literally non existent. I was able to play ONE successful "pickup game" with My created player in the entire year that I've been playing 2K10 on the PC. 2K just doesn't have a dedicated PC support staff, that's why they sell it for cheap on PC. They need to follow Capcom's model and start supporting PC the proper way. I will buy 2K11 on PC (only because I don't own a 360 or PS3) and I'm very excited for it, it's an awesome game. I'm just REALLY sick of 2K's "no care" attitude toward the PC versions of their titles.

Meh. This is so typical with 2K Sports and exactly the type of crap I'm griping about in my other posts. Did you or anyone else happen to notice if this game will have Steamworks support? I'd much rather have the Steam copy especially if it's going to use Steamworks with achievements and stuff. I heard other recent 2K titles have this but I only own NBA 2K10 and it certainly does not.

Yeah, I'm on the 2K Sports forums right now chatting it up with the other PC users trying to find out what differences there are between the PC and console versions. I knew 2K was gonna stick it to us on the PC version again. They seriously have something against the PC platform...

Yeah I broke down and bought the PC retail version from Best Buy for $29.95 US dollars. I haven't opened the package yet because I'm still contemplating returning it and waiting for the Steam version... It doesn't say anything about Steam or Steamworks on the official case but it does say "requires disc in drive to play" which royally pisses me off. One of the main reasons I love getting games on Steam. I can't stand having the disc in the tray. Plus friends lists, hours played, adds another game to my Steam library etc. Maybe they will let us activate our retail copy in Steam?? I can only hope because I don't think I can resist any longer... Gonna crack the seal on this bad boy and install it...
