Can I hold on to Gifts?

Im just wondering if I can purchase a gift now at a low sale price, and then gift it at a later date.

For example, if I want to buy l4d2 now at the sale price, and then gift it to my friend in a month on his birthday, can I do that?

I'm not sure if there is a limitation on how long you can hold a gift. The Raiders lost dammit!

I've held a tf2 gift for a very long time now. The last time it was on sale for 2.50 i bought one and still haven't used it. I think that was last years Halloween update?

I think you can send it to your alt account and then resend it to a friend later

Gifts do not expire. You can keep them and send them whenever you like by sending them to your own email address (I've read you can even send it to the email address you have registered on Steam but have never tried it) and simply don't redeem it - you can then resend it to your friend when you choose.

Indeed, gifts and extra copies never expire. I've held some for many, many months before sending them to people.
