You could force it via the video settings application of your card.

tried it with nvidia control panel, not noticed any improvement. ah well, thanks for the suggestion.

Try using D3Doverrider. It's part of the Rivatuner package, which you can get here (http://downloads.guru3d.com/RivaTuner-v2.24c-download-163.html).

You can access D3Doverrider through the start menu once you install Rivatuner.

The game runs so poorly I don't think you'll even need vsync
