Red Faction: Guerilla Problem

Hi. Recently, my friend gave me his copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla. (To keep.) I installed Red Faction on my computer and encountered a registration box. This box asked for my email address and the CD Key.

Unfortunately, the CD Key in the box is registered to my friend's email address. So, what do I do? Is it possible for my friend to cancel the current CD-Key-email link? (There doesn't seem to be a second hand key in the box for such a situation.)

But then his copy goes to waste.

Besides, what if I buy it, and I don't like it immediately? (I heard this version is in third person view and you can no longer create tunnels.) What am I meant to do with -my- registered copy? :P

Or, what if I register, and I'm somehow locked out of my email account? Surely there's something I can do with the code on the bottom of the CD, or maybe the serial number on the box itself.
