If I have an existing Station account that is a few year old, and I want to start playing EQ2 again, does purchasing EQ2 through Steam update my account or does it create a new account for me?

You get a product key, which you then activate on your account via the Sony Station website. It will enable the new expansions on your current account, and you can login like normal.
