EDIT: just in case someone reads it (I don't think it will happen, since this post is far behind now), this is what I think, about giving the game a fair chance:

Wow, I'm trying (really hard) to like this game... but man, it is as generic as it can be, FCOL!
This game had everything to be a rock-solid hit, IF the developers actually cared. For me it is crystal clear that they didn't give a damn -- there was no passion AT ALL in the making of this game, that's undeniable: a complete waste of a potential jaw-dropping atmosphere.
I have played before some games crowded with clones, but this is ridiculous! Three or four generic faces repeated all over ad nauseam? The Witcher, for instance, at least presented us with unique faces for the main characters. How in the nine hells am I supposed to believe in the story if even the main characters (apart of those from the previous Gothics) have generic faces??? You talk to a very important NPC, and right outside talk to an absolutely unimportant/generic one and both have the exact same face? Often the clones walk in the same room!!
BTW: this is the worst dubbing/voiceover in the history of games!! It is so bad that I find myself trying to avoid dialogues, in order not to hear that grotesque, ludicrous, ridiculous over-over-over-over excessive tones from that "projects" of voice actors -- because they are anything but that!
They wanted to rip-off all the good elements of a good open-ended RPG, like real freedom -- to go wherever you want or kill whoever you choose, fine! They wanted to oversimplify the AI? Fine! Wanted to make the NPCs impervious to whatever happens around them so you can even rob them blind right under their noses? Fine! They didn't mind implementing the worst beginning ever in a game (seriously, what was that?)? FINE!
BUT AT LEAST show some seriousness with believable voiceovers and respect our money taking your time to actually draw unique faces for the main characters!
The cheap feeling when playing is unfortunately unavoidable!
Now that it is out of my system, let me dive back in where I left off. Like I said, I'm trying hard...
Consider yourselves warned... ;)
