so I have my Phenom II that I'm installing.
The mobo bios has an update for new processors.
Do I install this. before are after the cpu

I don't know if it's possible to install without a processor, correct me if I'm wrong

What motherboard? What CPU? What is the current BIOS on the board currently? What does the newest BIOS provide or give support for?

If a BIOS update is required, simply do it before you install the Cpu. Otherwise if the Cpu isn't supported by the present BIOS, it may not boot up.

Also be certain you know what you're doing!

What they all said. If you try and install the CPU on a motherboard that doesn't have the proper BIOS already, you're going to get unfavorable results. At best, the processor won't run well. At worst, it won't run at all.
