Hi I just purchased the game, installed (on work machine, will test on my home machine later) and as soon as the game launches I get the black screen then it just drops to desktop.

I tried the full screen thingy but it provided no improvement to the situation.

Could you send it to support@noumenongames.com? What graphics card do you have? It would seem like some required shaders can't compile.

ahh thats most likely it this machine only has the built in mb gfx chipset so no actual gfx card, but I'll try on my pc at home later which has a nvidia 8800gtx.
Didn't realise this game would actually require a card as the graphics dont look like they should require it but guess I should learn to read the game requirements first lol :-D

I'll try on my pc at home later which has a nvidia 8800gtx.
I've played the game with an nVidia 8800 GTX and it works like charm, so you shouldn't have problems at home.

When I go back home, i'll play it in my 8800 GTS.

Yep tested on home computer and it runs instantly and managed to get in top 100 on a lot of maps so no worries the requirements are obviously a bit more intensive than i expected for such a basic looking game.
GTS isnt bad card but I'd stick with your GTX as well its a better card all around than the gts model (but guess thats the diff between £60 and £260 cards)

Depending on which quality you select from the settings menu it can be quite demanding. As we use a technique called deferred rendering the game is pretty taxing on something called pixel shaders, what this means in effect is that reducing the number of pixels drawn greatly effects performance. If you're having troubles lowering the resolution and / or changing the quality settings should see a lot of improvements. If you're on high settings there's various real time effects on which are quite heavy.
