Downloaded & installed this game.
(was fine before and this was ONLY thing I was doing)
Went to start up, froze, and made my whole laptop extremely slow. had to end the task via task manager but didnt solve the speed problems. Turned off laptop, turned it back on and it was normal for around 5-10 minutes and then got worse again to the point where everything was 'not responding' so I couldn't do anything, even turn it off.
Now, I can't even turn it on, it freezes at loading screen.
Cant boot in safe mode, that freezes at CLASSPNP.SYS.
Cant do vaio recovery, sticks at loading screen.
Cant do start up repair, gets to blue windows screen and can move mouse but nothing appears or happens.
'Start windows normally' freezes at loading screen then goes back.
So basically, i can't get on to my laptop.
Thank you steam.

It's not a steam fault.

dont blame steam they are just the distribution company. kind of like shooting the messenger. hes not at fault just delivering the msg. if you dont have any important files just do a reinstall. hope that will solve the prob. yes its a pain in the ♥♥♥ but what can you do now.

Not possible, can't get on the laptop in any special way cuz of same problem as safe mode. And trying to do any fix or restore just.. freezes.

First thing is Steam did nothing to your rig. I've used it since HL2 release with no problem on 4 different rigs. Sounds more like a virus you could have picked up surfing the net.
Don't think the OP can get his lappy to the point he could do a restore from what he has said. Since he didn't burn a recovery disc when he got the Laptop (many people do not know to do this when they buy a PC/lappy so not OP's fault) he has nothing to recover his rig with since he says it did not ship with one.
Unplug from the wall if plugged in, remove your battery and let the lappy sit a good 5 minutes. Reinstalled the battery and start it back up if you can. If you can get it up, run you A/V asap.

It's not a virus. IT happened literally as soon as I played the game. From what I can tell the HD is going wrong somehow . Which apparently is cuz this game isn't compatible with windows 7. But no idea why that would cause so much trouble.

u will have to borrow a disk from one of your friends. thats the only way to reinstall it.

there is probably a partition on your hard drive with a system image. check out sony vio help page to figure out how to use it.

Which apparently is cuz this game isn't compatible with windows 7.Dunno who told you that, but you probably don't want to ask them for advice any more. The most damage an incompatible program will do is force you to reboot.
Assuming I'm right in guessing what the problem is, then Frontlines was just a catalyst, and only by mere coincidence. Any big or intensive app like Photoshop, Maya, or even Windows itself could've been the catalyst instead.
In any case you probably don't want to try booting from that hard drive any more, not until you've managed to safely back up any data you wanted from it.
What point did the boot process fail at? Was it the same point every time?

CLASSPNP.SYS I beleive is a disk driver, probably not a problem caused by installing the game but more than likely something wrong with Windows 7, and from what it looks like you will have to get a copy of Windows 7 to do a repair.

Well you used to be able to depending on how old the rig is and the brand you had, get a copy of the recovery disk from the manufacturer at a small charge.

UPS!!! I feel sorry for you believe me. One of the WORST brands for anything besides using Excel or Web browsing. Yes I know nice colors, nice models.. terrible and cheap components.
By the way every expensive Vaio must include a recover disk or recover partition, please check your manual or check on online Sony support.
Like someone else said... seems to be a problem with your HD controller.
My best wishes to solve your problem.

My guess is that your hard drive has died, or is dying. Regardless of what it is, though... I seriously doubt it was because of the game.
