Black Ops PC - Box won't open

Hey guys, I've been having trouble with something the last two days. I pre-ordered the PC version and picked it up at Wal-Mart, so all was good then.

I got back home, and excitedly tried to open the box. Guys, this box just won't open. I used a knife, scissors, even ridicule to try to get the thing open, but it won't budge.

Do you guys have any fixes? Here are my scissor and knife specs:

Scissor:
Blue and Black handle (Rubber coated)
6-7 inch metal blades

Knife:
8 inch steel knife (steak knife)
Textured plastic black handle.

If you guys don't have any fixes, when will Activision/Treyarch be fixing this problem? I really want to play guys!

Treyarch said they will be patching this ASAP so dont worry xD

Btw your Specs doesn't seem to meet the minimum requirements so i suggest picking up some Heavy Duty Scissors or a good Meat Cleaver to do the job right.

Did you try a stanly knife to cut into the plastic on the reverse side ? this also fixes the lag issue by destroying the settings.ini flie on the disc :D

Yes, but MW2's Box was optimized.
Black Ops has no optimization and requires better specs to open.

Sharpen the knife yourself, if the box won't work was you want it, change some of the settings to make it work.

You need to open the desk drawer and take out a pen. Not any kind of pens but the one that lets you write on plastic. Then you find the PGrating area of the box and you write on top of it:
This game will not make me kill kittens in real life / this game will not make me fling poo at my neighbours / where are my razors
After that you need to put the box back into the sleeve. Wait a few min and the take it out again and try opening it.

First off, make sure you are holding the box upside down. That is a common mistake when opening this certain box.

Next you MUST have a ceiling fan (a small stand alone fan with the guard off may work, but be warned not tested.)

Take the box AGAIN, upside down, ...and throw it soft enough to just tip the bottom onto the fan blade and the disc should not only fall out of the box but the plastic case inside.

IF you think you are a professional, open up the cup holder on your computer and jump off the couch/chair/whatever available, and drop kick the disc onto the cup holder.

This is tricky, I had my box bug out on me too.

I had the same problem...
What I did, was soak it in the tub with about 12 gallons of High Octane Gasoline for about 24 hours, popped right open.

If you have any hydrofluoric acid, this works extremely well.

Oh I forgot to mention, once you have your proficiency, you have to pull a minimum of 6k DPS on it or else you won't get it open before it enrages and one shots you.

Oh man, next time please read the minimal opening requirements BEFORE you make the purchase. How hard is it to understand that blue and black handles are NOT supported by Treyarch game boxes. The rubber coating is a good beginning but I see no success in the future if you aren't remotely close to switching to dual neon-green handles.

Maybe you should have invested in some hardcore high-end Alienware scissors like I did. At least I know what I'm doing, buying pre-built and extremely expensive elite kitchen hardware all of you can only dream about.

If anyone is good at such things as opening boxes the answer would have already been here! But obviously no one even know the meaning of "Opening a box".

Try a fork instead. The fork will do the job pretty much by itself once you open the drawer wich contain the fork.
But if this dont do the job, try a spoon. More work, cus you have to do things manually but this will most likely solve it.

Give us some feedback if and when you open the box!

Now is the blade on that steak knife 8 in or is the entire knife 8 inches...it matters. If the blade is 8in then you should have been able to open it according to the minimum requirements but if it isnt then it is time to upgrade and hope that it works

you have to switch the slider on your knife to maximum other wise you'll just get noclipping issues, also make sure all your knife strokes have Vsync or you might framelag and cut the game.

Hey guys, I've been having trouble with something the last two days. I pre-ordered the PC version and picked it up at Wal-Mart, so all was good then.

SOLVED:

Here are the steps that Activision recommends;

1. Uninstall the box from your hand.
2. Lay box on ground behind your house.
3. Pick up a tomahawk.
4. Go outside.
5. Throw tomahawk at an 85 degree angle over your roof.
6. Make sure you hit a light pole or antenna.
7. Tomahawk will bounce 3 times then slide across the ground.
8. Tomahawk will continue to rotate until it reaches box.
9. Tomahawk opens box and disk flys out.

The one from walmart does not work. I tried it myself. You need to actually start your lawn mower and position your lawn mower over the box, if the mower jams up, repeat the process until the box opens up.

Put on the sunglasses you brought with you (Note, you shouldn't be wearing them between the time machine and the taxi drive, if you have you have proberby been ambushed and are now dead.) Walk a few meters and someone should offer you a gazillian credits for your sunglasses (make sure you get a gazillian at least) accept the offer, look at the person in the black suit outside the shop. Pop into the laser weapon shop and buy the following in the following order.

Laser pistol 202nd generation.
4 battery packs.
Two packets of crisps.
A lunch box.
Tactical nuclear laser device.
A hat.
Sporting results mag from the year 2011.
USP skin for Laser pistol 202nd generation.

Put the laser pistol, the sporting results mag and the battery packs into the lunchbox. Put the hat on. Walk outside, talk to the man in the black suit. He will ask for your hat. Hey man, I've been having the same problem.
I've been hearing news that the X360 build actually opens the case for you, hovers over to your console and works perfectly. Rumour has it, it even cleans the dishes and makes you meals :\
The PS3 and PC versions, however, are showing the same symptoms.. inability to open the case, as well as refusal to enter drives/install. I'm actually scared to open my drive, my disk's been yelling death-threats at me for the past week, saying it will destroy me and my home as soon as it escapes.
My advice, return it. Take back your $80 and pre-order Bulletstorm. That game will just be plain fun xD

If not, I'd suggest putting it in a box and opening it within that box. Might work as reverse psychology.
