was checking my wishlist to see if it was down to a reasonable price (5 or less honestly is all it seems worth but i'd be willing to shell out a 10er for a crap survival horror game) but it seems to have given up the ghost. any news there?

I lol'd when I saw that. I've read so many great things about the game I was about to look into it but that's all you see on the store page. You know it's gotta be bad when Steam pulls a game that has nothing but a forum full of complaints.

They should just change the name of the game to:

maybe it will go the way of merchants of brooklyn and simply come back under a new name so people will not be able to see the metacritic rating, and still not buy it... i am a huge survival horror fan, even if it's god awful i would at least drop a tenner on it
