I am running a home server off of a spare PC that I had laying around the house.
Hardware running 24/7
AMD 6000 3.0ghz
2gb of memory
80gb WD raptor.

Software
Windows XP pro
I access radmin viewer for full server control
The server runs with a steam vanilla OA install and server tool install.

My home bandwidth is very good.

----------------------------------------------------
Quality
Our server was ranked In the top 93percent on gametracker and when the server actually hit 16 players there was very little lag issues from the dozen or so players that were in TS.
The only issues I had where memory crashes that would occur every other day or so that would leave a memory crash message on the server desktop.

----------------------------------------------------
Recent events
A few days ago my internet had started to get very laggy so I rebooted my modem which changed my home IP address. Threw the server back up. I did not have time to fully test it as I was testing cod: black ops.

Next day the patch was released and so i Updated the server files and restarted. (The problems with the BE is a different issue, I run the server currently with NO BE.)

Problems
After about 45 minutes of gameplay the game server shuts down. There is no error message. It just looses connection connection and shuts down. orange link for a few seconds then red with 10 messages saying lost connection.

Troubleshooting
I have rebooted modems and routers and servers.
I have deleted all local content and re-installed the server on the box.
I have used my home pc arma2 OA folder and installed server files in there. -so I ran a server off of my Q6600 with 4gb of ram while playing and STILL problem exists.
Im disconnected my router and did a test straight modem access. still crashes
Tried default domi mission with no edits. still crashes.
I tried to use this tool to see if I can start to get some logging.

QUESTIONS:
I suppose my question is. Does anyone have a steam server install that is working?

I need to isolate this as a steam server patch issue or a network issue at my house.

THANK you so much for any response.

Similar problem here. I have been searching on the BI forums and havent found anything yet.I have been running a combined ops server via steam and since the patch I have been having the same issue as specterm. Tried some fixes, firewall and virus related. Checked the config files and tried a few other things as well. I run the server from my pc and play on it with the same pc. After some testing I have found that I can run the server without crashing if I do not join from my pc. Others can play with no problems. From what I can tell in the config file it seems like when I join the server it thinks there are 2 servers running simultaneously causing the server to crash.

After some testing I have found that I can run the server without crashing if I do not join from my pc. Others can play with no problems.

Interesting find. This is not the case with me. Even when I throw the server up and do not connect it crashes. However. If I throw the server up and a mission is NOT running the server will not crash.

Thanks for posting btw.

Turns out it stil crashes if I do not join. Tried last night and it just took alot longer. If I run the server with no mods it seems to crash within 15- 30 minuts. With ACE 1.6 (what we normally play) it takes 1-2 hours and without me playing on the server it takes 3 or so hours. I tried hosting a game without the use of a dedicated server and it seems to be ok. Ill try testing it for a longer period of time to be sure.

NewTest
downloaded the beta patch and used the server.exe from it to see if it helps.

Im in the middle of testing a fix that is looking promising. The server has been running for just over 2hours now and the team is working on their 6th AO.

I installed the beta patch on my own pc and out of the beta patch I used the arma2aoserver.exe and put it on the server. I used that one instead of the steam one.

I will post final results later.

that's why we need crashdumps to be able analyse the culprint

could be engine problem or some script related issues (even clientside)
etc.

Read the guide to create a ticket. Been real busy with work ill create one tommorow. Should we each create a ticket? Or just one for all of us with the problem.
