How can we know this? Don't ask about it when game is not released yet. Many things will change...

Not meeting the "recommended" requirements is one thing, but not even meeting the bare minimum...I dunno, I would expect the worst if I were you. Hate to be a wet blanket but...yet, I wouldn't count on it.

Which has lower requirements than Witcher 2 does and is still running an old variant of the iD Tech3 engine, meanwhile Witcher 2 is on an entirely new and different engine.

Since The Witcher 2 is released in May, I would save up some money and buy a new GPU.
If you don't have a lot of money to spend on it, I would check out the prices on a GF250 or GF9800, since those GPU's are pretty cheap and a little more powerful than a GF8800 :)

Nvidia's GTX460 is the best bang-for-buck I've seen lately. (good performance, low power reqs, overclocking potential, great in SLI, etc) I just picked up an MSI 1GB version for $159 on Newegg. (after rebate... normally $200ish) Even the 768MB version is worth getting, though not as fast as its 1GB brother.

It's replacing my 8800GT, though it wasn't really a "necessary" upgrade. I just couldn't pass up the good deal. I wouldn't advise the OP to buy anything under a 260 or 460 for this game, since the minimum is listed as the 8800.

Since the game has been continually tested on consoles during development. I'll bet that I'll be able to run this maxed out (except for AA) on my GF8800GTS(G92).

Why? Because except for Crysis and Metro 2033 and the Stalker games, I can max out every single game that I own.
And the mentioned titles run fine on above medium settings as well. ;)

But, I'm looking at a GF460GTX as seems to be the new "8800" Meaning that it's reasonably priced while being pretty powerful.
But, it's not the cheapest GPU for gaming...

You don't actually know the details of what they did to get it to run on consoles however, that's the thing, remember that Metro 2033 also is on Xbox360 for one.

It's the cheapest for those who want real performance on an 'affordable' current gen card. (though the Nv 500 and 6xxx ATI series are releasing) I would hold off on buying a new card unless you find a great deal on a GTX460. There are bound to be more incredible deals in the post-Christmas week. ($159 for 460 1GB was the only reason I bought one so early) There are good ATI card deals, too, but the 460 is praised as a sweet spot for overall value, SLI and overclocking potential.

8600GT worked for me on XP with enhanched edition on low-med settings. Although I got much better performance with 8800 series.
I'm using ATI Radeon 5770 atm. High performance gameplay possible now, I can enjoy it even more now :D
