BLACK OPS cant save class....PLZ Help

I been playing Black OPs got my self to lvl 50 every thing was nice game was working perfectly fine, After i have Prestiged and made enough currency to create a class it got buged or somethin, idk, so basicly when i go in and try to create a class and when im done making it i back out and every thing that i have changed goes back to default game currency to, I havent cheated or boosted, happend to me after 1st pestige lvl 6.


(FIX that they have on steam about the steam cloud and stuff doesn't work)

yea that happened to me after I prestiged too. It went away after I rebooted the game and steam though..

however... I've never been able to rename my custom classes.. it just doesn't stay for some reason.

Activision's response:
A connection interruption can result in a stats reset when playing online. This may be due to your ISP experiencing a sudden temporary drop in service, or the connection being a bit unstable when connecting to the servers. Your stats cannot be restored if they have been reset. Unfortunately we cannot restore your stats information as we do not have access or the ability to change user's stats information.

The final answer/result? Just level through it and it'll work itself out in the end.

I got back the ability to rename my classes and buy new guns by lvl 17 or so.

Yeah, I'm on my third prestige (this happened at around rank 20 prestige 2) and it still doesn't let me change my (PRIMARY) weapon. I have no clue why it won't let me buy a new primary, perks, secondaries, and grenades are all fine.

It doesn't go away for some, I have run into a few people with my very same issue. I tried clean installs of nearly everything and it still won't allow me to change it.

Prestiging/leveling up doesn't solve this for some.

Its steam based so reinstalling or formatting ur PC wount help, just found out.

Me too only after the new patch, so I guess theres a bug in it.

Workarounds:
Do not customize class 1, try others.
Do not buy & equip. Buy the item, then equip it.

These workarounds aren't 100%...

If you changed your config file then set it to read only, then thats why its happening.

Same thing happened to me. Prestiged, then got to level 18 or so, and boom, can't change weapons, camo, anything. I've leveled up to 25 and no improvement. Also, it forgot I prestiged and took away slot 6, so I'm at basic level 25, I guess.

The reset I can live with, but not being able to change or buy weapons kills the game. Is there a way to just reset fresh to start over? I've tried setting classes to default, copying classes over each other, uninstalling and reinstalling, turning steamcloud off, logging off and logging back in to steam, pulling my ethernet cable during a game, even deleting registry keys. No matter what, I stay right at level 25, stuck with my first round of custom classes.

Happened to me as well, in steam library, right clicked on cod black ops muiltiplayer/ properties/ local files. selected verify integrity of game cache, it done it;s thing and fixed.

Happened to me too, but only with one class. It eventually worked itself out after a few games and probably a restart of Steam. Can't really remember because it wasn't a huge deal since it was only one class.

there is no fix for this. if u have bought the emblem, clan tag or both on a gun after prestige u must pay for it again same thing with the reticle stuff. its F'ing annoying and permanent until if treyarch fixes it.

Don't count on anything. I sent an email to Activision and NO RESPONSE at all.

In some other posts there is an Activision guy who promissed to come back with a solution. Well Activision guy, this problem has been around from 2010 and now it is 2012 and still no solution.

Black Ops is out -> COD MW3 is in!

Here is the latest suggestion I got from tech support and it actually worked for me. I now have all background programs running again and the create class function still works. Just be aware that you have to restart your pc after every change in msconfig.

There might be a program running in the background that is interfering with the game. Try shutting down all startup and background applications, like this:
1- Start button > Run (Windows Key +R, in Vista and Windows 7)
2- Type in "msconfig"
3- In the 'Startup' tab, make a list of all the items that are checked (for use later), and then check 'Disable All'.
4- In the 'Services' tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box on the bottom, make a list of all the items that are checked (for use later), then check 'Disable All'. Make sure to leave "Steam Client Service" checked, otherwise you will not be able to launch the game.
5- Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'. Then restart your computer.
You can use the list to re-check the boxes, so you can tell what background services and startup applications were causing the problems.

Try deleting the config files from the game folder, and starting the game up again. Steam will automatically reinstall the correct files once the game is launched. Here is the location of the files.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops\players. Delete the "config_mp.cfg" in that folder.
After that, verify the integrity of the game files in the Steam client. In the Steam client right-click on the game and select properties. Click on the local files tab and click the "Verify integrity of game cache" button. You will need to do this for the single player and multiplayer game executables.
Also, once you start the game, it will restore the default settings. You will need to change the settings again in the Options menu.
