I am so tempted, but I have a question. I'm thinking of starting Eve in January at the earliest (Don't have time until then) so paying $5 now instead of $20 later seems like a good deal to me. My concern is that since buying it is really paying the first month's fee would the free month start as soon as I buy it or would it start when I start playing it. In other words if I buy it for $5 today and not play it at all until January would I get my free month in January?

As far as I can remember you start using up your time the moment you type your Steam CD key in to your Eve account at the official website.
If you simply buy the game and don't make an account till later you get to keep your time.

you might also want to get a 21 day trial from the thread in this forum, or a regular 14day one from the eve website. You'll just have to start the trial first and when it's time is over add your cd-key.

I already did the 14-day trial one. Can I get in on that 21-day trial too with the same account?

nope you can't.
Not sure if right now would be a good time to get into eve or not. they are making a bunch of changes to the skill system. Removing learning skills and the bonus skills at double rate. The new system looks nice, but not sure if it would be better after or before the update.
either say eve is fun to play.

This sucks then, based off your post there random_nothing, wtf do I do in my trial account because I have been building learning skills? Do I stop or just keep at it? At this moment, they help speed up time to learn other stuff for me since I'm all noobykins in EVE right now. Not cool.

I'm supposing you can log into your trial account on the website and type in your cd-key to activate the full version and free 30 days somewhere in account management or whatever the equivalent is.

Stop training learning skills. When the patch that removes learning from the game comes you will receive all the skillpoints you had in learning, so that you can spend them on whatever else you choose.

Yes.
But he was asking if he could add the 21d trial to his 14d trial, which is not possible.

Or third, or forth, etc. Exactly the reason I stopped playing this game. Yes, there are 300,000+ subscriptions, but in all reality there about 500 people multi-boxing and playing off micros transactions (disguised as plex). Okay, I'm a little grumpy and 500 people is exaggerating, but the truth is in there mostly.

Doesn't necessarily mean the game is broken or bad. It's just taking advantage of the system, the openness CCP has towards multi-boxing.

Nothing wrong with a bit of EVE multi-boxing as it's OK by the EULA.
Tempting as it is I don't think I could cope with another account.
The wife aggro would be terrible. ;)

at 1 point i was triple boxing... and dual repping domi tank, assigned sentries to my navy raven, used a harbinger to salvage everything...
now i don't bother with salvage and use a drake to tank and kill cruisers and my navy raven to kill BS and BC...

Although many people would disagree with me (greatly I might add), if there was a way to eliminate Alt's, Multi-Boxing, and Plex I would jump right back in. Plus there's the whole nigh impossible aspect of the second one that makes it even more difficult.

Well, it's not exactly a requirement as such. Personally I just an alternate account to help me with hauling my ores when I mine - it just makes life easier, and safer.

I bought it at the steam sale but haven't tried it yet. Are people still paying in-game funds for trial referrals?
