Hey guys, need some help. I have an alienware m17x rv2 with dual ati 5870 in crossfire core i7 Q820 @1.73ghz and 8 gb ram while using win 7 64bit home premium. for the first 18 hours of play it ran smoothly then all of the sudden the frame rate seems to stutter a bit and the character animations seem choppy at best. It also seems to take about 3 minutes to start up now once I hit play. I'm going to try cache defrag but if any one has an idea please let me know.

Probably need to delete saves/quicksaves. Last I heard the game doesnt auto-delete old ones so you have to delete them manually ala The Witcher.

I use 7zip to archive my old savegames before I delete the save files. You never know when you might have to go back to an old save due to making a mistake or breaking a quest.

i have been overwriting my game saves the whole time. I only have 6 save files I think on my list in game. is there hidden save files even though it overwrites? do I need to go to a special file out of game to access it? thanks for all the replies btw.

On Win 7 your save games will be at C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\Risen\SaveGames
In XP they'll be at C:\My Documents\Risen\SaveGames
If you want to do a file search, then the format of the savegame file names is like this: Risen_Save_0014.save, AutoSave.save, QuickSave.save

so do i need to delete these files? can i just do it from in the game? can I use just the latest file i am playing on?

my frame rate started dropping at around 10 hours. is the shaking up and down real fast part of the game?

I was going to say that your on a laptop and its probably getting very hot by that point. Buy a cooling pad to set it on.
