Hi I just got this game during the Steam sale but I'm finding it unplayable due to lag. During the start up menu the mouse cursor lags really badly and sometimes the game freezes for a few seconds. During the start cut scene it lagged several times (mainly the voices). In game it just keeps stuttering. Is there anything I can do to make the game run smoothly? I can't give you my exact computer specs but I'm using windows xp and I can play most other games fine (even Crysis).

Go to Documents>Alpha Protocol>APGame>Config and open up APEngine. Find minsmoothedframerate and maxsmoothedframerate. Edit the values to be the same. Some say to use 40 min and 60 max but it still jumps around. What you need to do is lock it at an acceptable framerate. Others choose 30 for both which looks like crap IMO. I use 50 for both right now but Im going to bump it up to 60 and see how that looks. 50 isnt bad but I think it could look a little better still.

Mouse smoothing must be enabled. Simply turning it off doesnt fix the issue.

I dont know if this is your exact problem because my menus didnt lag just when i tried to look around though. I also tried using my Task Manager to set affinity to one core but I dont know if you can do that in XP and it made a little difference but the problem was stil there.

I just looked and I don't APEngine I have DefaultEngine and in that there's no min or max framrate.
