Given that some Ball Team members are on these forums, I thought I'd ask. How did you get the wonderful idea of The Ball?

I'm not a dev, but I'll take a random stab at it. I bet they saw the gravity gun in HL2 and thought "Gee, you could make a whole game out of that..." And then they did :)

To be fair, this reminds me more of Montezuma's Return from the mid 90s than of HL2. I wonder if any of the devs were on that team as well.

The OP is interested in how the developers came up with the original idea which as we know started as a mod, was updated, added to, and is now a commercial game.

We were inspired by the atmosphere of Unreal, the environments of Tomb Raider, the HL2 gravity gun, and the simplicity yet beauty of Portal, and threw all of that together into a single game.

A nice mix :) I love the exploration feeling.

To me, this game remember me a bit "Exhumed" (played on a Saturn in 96)
