View Full Version : Black screen, then crash.

I'm having trouble with this game. I click the game, a black screen pops up and it seems like it is starting, then the black screen vanishes, and all traces of the game are gone from the task manager. I have a toshiba l305d laptop. The video card is X1250. The processor is AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 @2Ghz 3 gigs of ram. It is also running on 32 bit vista.

Having this same problem myself. 64 bit win7, 8 gigs of ram, 4870x2 Crossfire, intel core 2 quad.
In my case, the game works 'once' and then I get the crash from then on until I reboot. I strongly believe it's a driver problem (specifically when it comes to OpenGL) and not necessarily the game itself. I recently was playing "Duke Nukem 3D" through eDuke32 (also uses openGL to render the graphics) and I would get random lock-ups which closely resembled what was happening at the start of BIT.TRIP.BEAT in that the display driver would "stop responding". I have not tested it yet, but I am betting the same thing would happen if I were to play "Prey".
Now what do we all have in common? ATI video cards. I have an HD4870X2 like Tokubetsu and obviously the X1250 is in the ATI Radeon series as well (albeit a notebook card).
I suggest keeping a watch for updates and retry BIT.TRIP.BEAT with each one. HOPEFULLY the right fix gets applied which will not only correct this game but other OpenGL titles that may be suffering from the same thing (one of which I mentioned as eDuke32).
I can't stand it when ATI releases broken driver updates. This has happened in the past before (only worse because ALL games would randomly crash).
EDIT: ATI Catalyst 10.11 seems to be up for download whereas I am using 10.10. Here's hoping....
