The co-op part is really great if you have friends to play through it with. The lack of a game in progress drop-in feature and the low player count make it hard to enjoy otherwise.

Yes its a fantastic game one of the best on the PC this or any other year.
1: DX11 graphics look amazing one of the best looking PC games ever made. DX9 looks great as well but DX11 is slightly better due to better shader FX & tesselation.
2: PC 4 player co-op is a lot of fun.
3: MP is also great but the time it took Capcom to fix their own mistake with version meant for almost 2 months digital download & retail buyers could not play together at all. This is now fixed though.
4: LP2 has a lot of content to discover & an amazing amount of unlockables which only come to the player from gameplay. These unlock upgraded weapons/ammo/player skins.
5: Boss battles are epic & the designs are amazing as are many of the level environments look incredible. You have to work for it though this game like so many Japanese games is rock hard so many players give up before fully exploring all it has to offer. Its best to use a trainer on SP mode as the game is challenging but not impossible just hard in places even on easy mode!
6: Gameplay is well designed as the unlockables you earn on SP modes carry over to your MP player so the more you play SP the better your MP playing experience will be as you get weapon/armour bonuses as well as different player skins (which you can customise).
7: Vital Suits & Mechs are well designed & add to the gameplay experience.
This game is the best LP game out there but its tough in places & 4 Player Co-Op/MP is the main focus but the SP is still pretty long (18 chapters some small, some epic in length). I played it solid for a month & only completed about 50% of the game I still have to put a lot of MP hours in but value for money for me was amazing as I paid £17.95 for my retail copy.
I think this game has a very unfair rep as its really polished & looks amazing definately one of the best looking DX11 games ever (yes even better than Metro 2033 as that is the same tunnels etc etc LP2 has some epic environments & great levels with plenty of variety).
Screenshots do this game no justice you have to play it & see with your own eyes :D

Thanks Alienware Gamer, et al. Great information! I knew the game couldn't be as bad as some folks made it out to be. It's good to hear the flipside. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. +1 rep

1: You cannot play a pirated copy online at all!
2: It uses GFWL which many PC gamers hate as you cannot play a pirated copy online!
There is no logic to the hate this game looks fantastic has a lot of content & variety as well as typical Capcom Japan man vs robots humour & some epic japanese themed sci-fi action!

You can play pirated copies easily if you use programs like Garena I'm sure. But even then I would not recommend it to a friend, or even an enemy. In order for a sane person to enjoy this game, you'd have to be EXTREMELY bored and have no access to any other games.
You know that feeling you get when you work really hard on something, on the computer, and it shuts off without you saving it, so you have to start all over? Do you get mad? Cause if that makes you mad you shouldn't play this game. It is a huge waste of time. I LOVED the first one, but this is just awful. Capcom lost it.
There is hardly any content, the game is terribly unbalanced, finding matches online is horrible, and the bloody trailer even advertises something that isn't in the final product (fighting an Akrid in the Cube/stadium stage. You cannot do that). I could go on and on (seriously, I can), but there are PLENTY of reviews out there that say the same thing, the game is awful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It is quite easy for pirates to play ALL GFWL games online. Don't write off complaints about GFWL's terrible multiplayer bugs as people who are just pirates.
Don't bother with GFWL crap, If you're going to play this game have three friends and play it like you would L4D. Don't bother with singleplayer or the Versus multiplayer and don't try to play online with random people(GFWL hates you).
Otherwise Lost planet 2 is a good game to play with friends, it also has unlocks and achievements. Just playing the story co-op is worth the price, but make sure you play with 4 people to get the most out of it. Also make sure everyone is playing the steam version.
You can even play this game over LAN, set steam and GFWL to offline modes. The game has the same LAN connection option as Resident Evil 5.

I was looking at this forum just to see if this game was any good when I caught AG's speech about GFWL and how anyone who complains does so because they're playing a pirated game. I actually bought Bioshock 2 (I might've been drunk; that's the story I'm sticking with, anyway) off of Steam, and then found out that not only did I have to run it through GFWL, but I actually had to start GFWL beforehand or else it would lock at the credits. I mean, like a week ago it was still doing this, even after patches. With Fallout 3, I had to launch the game, then wait five minutes for it to call home through GFWL and establish that I had indeed bought DLC.
GFWL is clunky, adds nothing, and looks like a cheap rip-off of Steam. It's like the Zune of game clients.
I'm telling you, the beef with GFWL has nothing whatsoever to do with piracy.

and now you can buy all these great deals on GFWL to buy games that everyone either already owns or can just get on steam. But why would you buy Deus Ex on steam when you can buy it on GFWL and have to have GFWL running at all times on your computer?
Oh and Shadowrun for a dollar, that game isn't worth a dollar. They should pay me $59.99 NOT to play shadowrun.
GFWL is the biggest flaw in Lost Planet 2, for an unfortunately good game.

I don't know if you know this or not, probably not, but Steam is the ONLY digital service that REQUIRES the client to be running at all times. None of the others do this. With GFWL, if a game doesn't use GFWL, you can download the game and delete GFWL and still play it.

GFWL loads automatically and functions as the game's DRM.

You only need GFWL running for LIVE enabled games, not all games on LIVE. Deus Ex has no LIVE functionality, and the client is only required for downloading.
