Is HAWX2 Worth Buying? Any major improvments on multiplayer? Or it's just fancier looking HAWX1 so I shouldn'd? Thx.

EDIT: almost forgot the most important thing: any improvment on the "off-mode"? i got soooooo lost on off-mode in hawx 1.

EDIT 2: thx for all these informations, though i forgot to emphasize that i'm more interested in MP. any missile upgrades? how about kilstreaks?

ok. is it worth $15USD....? never played the 1st one but this looks good. do i need a controller? joystick? something that isnt my trusty keyboard and mouse?

more importantly would a FPS freak like me enjoy the hawx experience?

There is a demo of HAWX available on steam that could be worth checking out.

IMO HAWX is way better than HAWX 2. In HAWX you don't spend 90% of the time dodging missiles while your allies are getting killed because they can't help themselves at all.

HAWX 2 is not worth buying at full price here on Steam. I've seen websites here in my country (Sweden) that sells the game for less than half the price on Steam. I'd like a refund for HAWX 2 but I guess that's impossible.

Ok so the single player isnt much to talk about, how about the MP? i liked the MP of the first allot but hated the bugs, it would randomly disconnect (among many other things).

I would like to try this but the Multi Player must be worth it.

I would try the MP part but sadly the joystick deadzone is way too big even with the deadzone option at 0%. Still waiting for a fix for that, hope it will come soon. So far this game was a total letdown and a complete waste of money.

IMO, NO! This is not worth the money they are charging for this title. Once it hits the bargain prices then I would say check it out as there is SOME fun to be had here. If you are looking for a flight sim then look elsewhere. This is an arcade, flight shooter at best.
Anything Tom Clancy is now garbage, second rate gaming. There has not been anything good coming from the Tom Clancy camp since the movie, The Hunt for Red October some 20+ years ago. Pass on this until its $9.99 or less.

Multiplayer doesnt even work.

You see games, but when you try to join "Session no longer available", every game i see only has the host in. no one else.

If you are in Europe buying via Steam then it's not worth it. But any game bought at Steam prices isn't worth it. I managed to get my copy from www.gamesplanet.com for a good price.

It's probably cheaper at retail and you don't need to have the CD in the drive to play it.

I really enjoyed the multiplayer side.

Yes, and i I bought two copies for lan play.. its got bugs, but there is no eye candy like it and to have the f35 in its multi-mission glory is completely worth it there is no real dx11 combat flight sim out there for some reason this is as close as they get.

This is NOT a flight sim and not even "as close as they get". This is, at best, an arcade shoot-em-up with aircraft. Think Afterburner. F15 on the Commodore 64 was more realistic, IMO.

Nah. HAWX is kind of a sim. Just not an incredibly realistic one. As far as the genre goes it can be a nice (if a little shallow) introduction to the genre itself and the wrapping is very pretty. As some of us know, realistic combat sims have become a kind of rare and dying breed especially when it comes to current gen graphics.

Thanks for the info folks. I was looking for something to blast the weekend away but with Ubisoft's online only DRM, multiple controller and general glitch issues I'll give this one a wide berth.

for the price..no not worth it at all.. so so single player.. Multiplayer is broke for many and sits empty most the time.

And no it' not a sim! it' very arcadish..not meaning its bad..just not a sim. at around 20 bucks it might be worth looking at. wait for the sales.

If you want a modern day SIM.. i would suggest Lockon Platinum..it' the IL-2 of Modern Day Aircraft with hanging cliffs 2 included now. even comes with a mission editor. Very good game that actually interfaces alone or with DCS blackshark for multiplayer.. well done.. and worth the 20 or so bucks..this is value! not the Ubi junk any longer. oh wait..lockon was ubi.. but it's better now thanks to the modders of flaming cliffs 2. look it up, watch some youtubes(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99_hoJNj3ys). but warning..it's a SIM..or as close to one there is for modern aircraft. this is the model Ubisoft should have continued with.

Single play

Hawx1 10/10
Hawx2 03/10

Simply put, friendly ai is S**T to say the least. you cant even comand squads. from what i can tell, i played through fast didnt look at the planes but you seem to play 4 differant planes. nothing like the customizability of hawx1.
targetting seems to have gone down hill.. very difficult compared to h1.
the last mission i nearly threw my js through my flatscreen with frustration.. rediculous.... talk about reality.. no one would do this IRL.. thats the truth.
in full, its a flying peice of garbage.
i'l continue to play hawx1.
i'l ininstall h2 nvr to install it again. VERY POOR sequal.

That's because the Pentagon came down on companies like Janes and Microprose because their "simulations" were becoming too realistic and could be used to train terrorists.

It sucks, I would have loved to see a Janes Longbow 3 on todays modern hardware.
