I got so many games over the holiday sale specials that I am overwhelmed with games.

I find myself looking at my Steam library and getting stuck trying to decide what to play first.

Its a heck of problem to have. :D

I have more trouble deciding what to buy without wasting money. Sometimes you buy games just to throw money around (at least, if you have my mindset.)

I haven't even played some of the games I've bought.

That happened once to me, but after a couple of days, i realized that all that i bought was rubbish!!!... and then looking in my steam library turned to shame...

Thanks Valve for selling games and not giving patches for games!!!

Wow....I thought I was the only person who managed to buy games that I never get around to playing.

Its almost a collection mindset and I have often wondered about it because collecting video games it not really something that is going to mean anything.

I have the same problem. I own about 80 games and I haven't finished half of them.

I decided that I will only buy one new game every time I complete 4 older games. Sadly I was gifted 6 new games over this sale. My life sure is hard.

I find it amazing how many people buy games knowing they won't play them. That is when it becomes a waste of money.

I only buy games I know I will play. I try and complete every game I buy. I'm far from my goal for Steam right now (I've been using other consoles) but I know I'm not one of those saying "I have x amount of games untouched in my account and I'll probably never play them"

GirlPower23

80 something games on steam and I've played everyone of them and probably beat 90% of them. Why buy what you arent going to use? I am not a penny pincher but if you are going to buy a game, then play it.

I have 246 games. I started buying complete collections/packs in 2008 and since then I buy them during each sale, hoping one day I have time to play them all.

Problem is, when I have time, I spend more time deciding on the game to play, than rather playing a game.

I've also noticed some people don't eat all the food on their plates at dinner. Such decadence! ;)

I don't buy games unless I know I want them and will play them till the end.
46 games (combining Steam and Non-Steam Game) and I've completed each one to the fullest extent ^_^ Unless they were multiplayer purposed only... Even then, I try to gain the max level/All Items.

All while having immense and strategic fun at the same time :D I love my games.

That's how I try to be also. I read around a lot and get opinions before I buy. I bought an awful lot over this sale but that's because I don't buy at other times of the year and instead just add ones I'm interested in to the Wishlist now.

However, it will likely take me the whole of next year to get through evn half of them LOL, and I think that's being generous!

I've been trying to hold on to my gamer days the best I can, but with a wife, child and career taking all my time I think I spend most of my free time buying games. And just a little bit of time actually playing games.

Someday my daughter will be a gamer though and I'll have plenty of games for her to play! Right?

I always boot up games once when I get them...

I just install, configure, play, it works-ok, next.
And then dump it in a category and see when I`ll actually play it.

^^ Although I did suddenly waste 3 hours on altitude before I got to the other games... :D that one should go in favorites.
Beat hazzard`s trippy effects also did the trick.

We all might be back logged in to oblivion.. but let's agree on this.. we all have at least one warm up game.. where you play like 30 minute on it like everyday before moving on and play some of the other games on ur list..

For me it is KF.. everyday.. no matter what I play KF always end up getting played for at least an hour.

I had this problem before. And I just found a solution recently. It works fine for me.

Go make a wishlist of games that you are really interested in. And force yourself not to buy anything that's not on the list, no matter how cheap it is.

If you are a gamer with wide interests of games, the list won't be short. You will have an idea that there is always enough games to play, thus you lose the motivation to buy every games that's on sale.

Even if I didn't buy anything else, my backlog would last 3 - 4 years. And that's even when I restrict myself to "great" games with critic/user scores above 8.

I have the same problem, but my goal is to play all of them during Christmas break and beat most of them by Summer.

The flaw in your logic is that you likely have 2 or 3 more major sales between now and the end of your goal.

The cycle will repeat!

I take this approach one step further - I assign a value to every item in my Wishlist that I would be willing to pay, and don't buy unless it's available for less than that.

I buy games with the intent on playing them all.

I only but full priced games that I know i will play to the end no matter what. But these Steam sales let me pick up games that I had mild interest in and some I try for a few minutes and dont play again or I have not gotten to them yet.

I try to imagine that if I ever get laid off and am out of work, I have games galor ot play becuse I have gotten so many.....silly I know.
