I recently bought The Witcher and i have some problems with it. Game crashes at random moments and "The Witcher program has stopped working..."(or something like that) window appears. I can play like 1 hour without any crash but it can aswell crash after few minutes. Im using Windows 7 and i think my pc i good enough to run this game on high graphic settings.

Try to lower screen resolution and low-med setting. Report back if you still having problems. Also hit the F5 as much as possible, so you won't lose that much progress.

Thanks for the advice. I am running Witcher at 1920 x 1080 and it crashes about once an hour. I'll try reducing the resolution like you say.

I was just searching for someone with the same problem...

I believe this is related to memory leaks, because it seems to happen after I visit a lot of different places.
It wasn't crashing while I still was in the Outskirts of Vizima or Vizima. Only when the Swamps showed up and onwards, these crashes started.

Possibly related to Windows 7.

My rig:
Sapphire HD5750 1GB (Catalyst 10.10)
AthlonII X4 620
4GB DDR3
Windows 7 x64 Professional

I'm getting random crashes as well I've updated my drivers but I have not had a chance to test them and yea it seems like a memory leak issue; although some people have beaten the game so it's not happening to everyone. I was gonna preorder part II but I seriously question the development teams dedication to making a game that runs without game ending bugs cause this is seriously BS the game has been out for awhile now you'd think they fix this bug.

my rig

Vista home
Intel Core 2quad 2.40GHz
BFG motherboard
4gigs of ram
Geforce 8800 GTS 512

I'm fairly sure I've fixed the problem, at least for my case.
But I did two things, so I'm not sure which one did it:

1 - Disabled auto-save like some people said.
2 - Delete all the older saves and kept only the last five ones.

So my suggestion is never keep a lot of saves. You don't have to delete them in-game (takes too long), go to Documents\The Witcher\saves and delete the older ones there. ;)

Pretty obvious that his antiquated gpu is not to blame I am running a 285gtx and another person posted using a 400 series what is needed is a stinking patch!
