i bought this game 2 weeks after it came out and there was always atleast 40-50 people whatever the time. now it's 13:43 (gmt +2 ) and not one player, atall. valve should so release a demo or something so more people would buy it. and how can i search for bgt servers on gametracker/monitor?

Yeah, a demo would be nice. But I doubt it's up to Valve, they didn't make the game afterall.

Yeah, I went searching for a game yesterday and there was a grand total of 0 players on. :( Had some fun the first time I played but got slaughtered.

Bought the game the day it came out. It was really fun with everyone playing and talking about the game. Now games are hard to come by, and if there is a game, it's silent.

Well, it surely needs a demo.

To be honest the banner that advertises the game is really unnapealing, I had idea it was an fps until I checked a review for it.

I keep getting this game in my recommendations, but like Mexicutioner said, the banner and whatnot didn't look at all interesting. I finally watched the video that shows actual gameplay and at least got a little interested.

Then I hear that nobody freaking plays the game. I'll pass. I don't wanna end up with another Plain Sight in my game list.

this is the biggest problem, the trailer is crap, most pictures look crap, gameplay on youtube is kinda crap. you need to acctually play the game before you understand/enjoy it

The decline in players is due to lack of support from the developers. Outerlight is dead, so no DLC no bug fixes no balance tweaks. It's very unappealing when a MP game stagnates like this. This was inevitable, I'm just glad I got a good 32 hours playtime before people started leaving.

While you are mostly right, I'd like to point out that zero marketing does not help bring players, and with a multiplayer title, you really need decent player numbers, or there is no-one to play with. You'd think Ubisoft would understand that.

Also, the developers would have provided DLC (as we did for The Ship), had Ubisoft seen the value of it. When the budget was cut and we had to cut the maps to 3 I told them they needed to promise DLC (and I meant free DLC, not charged!) or people wouldn't be interested and there'd be a short shelf life for the game. Their response was "we don't care about replayability".

If Outerlight had any cash reserves we'd have paid for it ourselves, although I wonder if Ubi would have allowed us to add it, it's a moot point, but I think they might have refused.

I am glad you got a good 32 hours play in though! :D

I got 52 hours played. :P

Imo I think steam should add Bloody good time to the treasure hunt competition thats going on at the steam store at the moment, this would boost the number of players and give it a fighting chance

A demo would already help alot. I for example was curious for that, but OFC there's no demo and usually, no try->no buy.

I was going to buy it, but decided at the last moment not to. This is why.

A demo wouldn't fit this game. You wont understand what I mean until you play it.

For god sakes, It's only $5. What do you have to lose? Your coffee for the morning?

Amander

No, but I could spend 5$ (or 5€, in my case) on a game which I am sure I'll like.

Honestly, five bucks is nothing. I picked up this game and I'm happy to have it as a distraction between other titles, even if I'm just playing with bots.

I mean, when a title interests me and is under $10USD, I'll just pick it up out of hand. Five dollars for something like this? You'd have to convince me not to.

I want to buy this game, but this whole "no players" thing is really shying me away. If the community here can get together and decide at least a few times every week to log on and play, I'll happily buy the game and show up.

Saturdays and Sunday nights are good times to meet and make games, yeah?

I just bought it. That's one more new player.
I was going to wait for a sale since I'm waiting for a lot of games to go on sale, but this was only $5 so what the the heck I bought it.

most of time there is at least one server with players, thats normally enough to enjoy the game. otherwise just join a server and the players will join automatically

Its sad reading that there wont be any updates for this game, it has so much potential to be even greater , i like it you just pick it up and instantly have fun, got 87 hours of fun outta it.

I bought it, it's pretty fun. Plays good with 120 ping and haven't experienced any glitches. There's always at least one active server, even though it's always just 2-6 people.

I think, as with The Ship, it might be a good idea to try to have some official play times, when people can join and find players.

I know what it's like, you join an empty map, kick about for a bit, then get bored & quit. If you think some people may join you the wait isn't so bad.

As Somnia said, perhaps we can organise some Sat night/Sun night games?

It would only last for a few weeks. When Plain Sight was on sale for like a buck, it had a HUGE boom in population, but it went down shortly thereafter. It was a fun game, but with no new players it's all but dead. Games like these need to have their prices permanently lowered if they want to have any chance of survival. Sure they might be only barely making a profit, but it's better than selling nothing if you ask me.
