When downloading I like to download one game at a time but i would like the fastest download to finish first and have the others pause. I dont want to keep pausing each download though, i would like to leave the house and have the downloads go in order of priority so that the download speeds and time is at max instead of downloading multiple things at one time to slowdown completion of the downloads.

Sounds like an excellent suggestion.

It`s been mentioned before tho: A few more ways to manage downloads.

Thought of this again, it would be nice to have a focused download, like having one download go at a time in the order that you choose when downloading alot of games. It would speed up the download since its focusing on one game at a time.

A priority setting for downloads might actually be a pretty decent feature.

Well I hope someone from the steam team sees this thread to put the thought in their minds, since they are working on the download delivery system right now it would be nice to add this in the process of it all. I think alot of people would benefit from this feature when downloading alot of games at one time

Totally agree unless you have a fast enough connection to maximum all your game downloads at the same time.

Like 1 Gbps.

Upcoming client releases will include things like download scheduling, bandwidth throttling, and prioritizing which games get downloaded first. Emphasis mine.

interesting, makes this thread kinda pointless with the bottom saying that they are going to impliment a focused downloading.

Omgosh!! When is this going to take place? Is it with this current beta?!! Nope. The new content system has been rolling out for a while now, but it's still in use for only a small fraction of the games on Steam. It's a big job to roll it out on a huge scale system like Steam, so they're taking it slow and doing it in stages, game by game.

Once every game is converted over, they'll utilise the new system to add features like prioritising downloads. They can't do it until the new system is fully in place otherwise the priority system (and the scheduling system, etc.) would work for some games and not others, and that would just be a really bad UI experience.

But yeh, it's just a matter of time.

If you looked at when i first suggested this idea it was almost a year ago before they put that new content into the motion so this forum thread was not worthless..... but nice try making this thread look "pointless"
