View Full Version : Am I gonna rage trying to get 85,370 on 'Classic - Small Wonder'?

I'm a noob to the game by the way. I love Chime and Tetris and want to give this a shot. :)

I am personally raging about it, as I have a higher score then that but droplitz is taking five minutes (so far) to return to the main menu. I believe it is trying to post that score on the leaderboards to get the treasure hunt objective and is unable to do so.

The game isn't bad for the price, but I find it very frustrating. It does have some very strong supporters. You don't have to unlock anything to give this objective a go, so ya there. The downside is I've got four hours into the game and I haven't unlocked more then the second game mode.

Which level is that? I can't make my version english, is it the first puzzle?
My first 2 tries on that were pretty bad but the third was really close to the target (if thats the right puzzle^^). So keep trying, you will get better.

On my second try I got to about 45.000, so yeah, I'll probably rage about it one time or another. :P

It isn't as bad as the objective for Poker Night at The Inventory though, I just gave up on that one, lol.

XD im going to try soon i hope i have better luck, yay treasure hunt

but yeah for poker nite just go all in if they only bet money. and if they bet items go all in if your gonna lose the hand close the game and when you restart the game from steam. you should be receiving cards for the hand you just closed it on but they will be different, and just rinse and repeat until u will the item then just end the match fast by winning or losing until x items comes up

Can anybody teach me this game? Im on first level and get almost NO points...

Once you have a path, you get a bonus purple droplit, if you make more paths while that one is running, you get more of them (at the same time). Get as many paths and leave em running to get points. (Merging paths also count as new paths!)

Also, you can use the deadends to collect droplitzin (it's like a completed path).

Once I figured out you want to let it run, instead of pressing shift to go faster, the points start to rack up. Also, split your droplits as many times as you can, it gives you more droplits for the next round. First two tries I barely made 10K. Then I bothered to read the manual and shot to 120K.

It's not as hard as it looks once you get the knack for it. Reminds me of a game called 'Deflector' that I used to play on the Amstrad. Many, many moons ago.

What increased my score a lot was starting from the bottom and working up. Just try to make the paths as quick as you can and more often then not, you can connect your bottom paths to your top. Also, if you have nothing left to do, be sure to fast forward the time in order to save your droplitz. The fast forward only affects those purple score units.

I've played 6 hours of Poker Night before the treasure hunt and i got all the items and all achievements except 3 for getting very good hands (full house, straight flush and 4 same cards).

Don't speed it up, just try to get as many connections as possible. I had 5 connections with the 3 main and 2 spawned endings. It mad the score x10 and I got almost 20k out of it.

170,000 DONE. Yes working from the bottom is good but this game is still too infuriating to play any more... back to chime for me.

Got 237.360 of my first (and only, so far) try. Easy as pie.

Another trick is to build the connections from the lower end upwards, so you are less like to build small connections you didn't wanted too. That way it is easier too build multirouts.

Is anyone else having trouble with the scores posting? I got about 188,000 points but it is taking forever to go back to the menu and the score hasn't showed up on my profile.

Just learn to like the game (or pretend to, i mean, i bought the game cause it interested me, not really thinking bout the contest), unlock more themes and go play in them (they're mostly HARDER). By the time you decide to come back to Small Wonder, you'll land more than that score. And I suck at puzzles, i'm not like AxoZombie who even though was lucky, he's no doubt good at this kind of game. The game is about being concentrated as much as possible and rationalizing as fast as possible, so go train that.

Thanks for the hint not to press fast forward. It made me achieve the required points. 440k in fact :-) Now the game is actually fun!

well, at least you can see the drops in your game. They don't show up here; just the board with dials and sound effects. Droplitz without any droplitz :(

edit: update, I did get 200 totally blind! that should be allowed as the achievement for Steam Treasure Hunt

I don't get it. I got 83700 points with my second try. After that I hardly get over 10k.

Okay so I followed the basic advice on the video that I posted, arranged the pieces to always flow down, built from the bottom up and DIDN'T PRESS FAST FORWARD ... I'm easily making over 80k now. The game is about understanding a couple of basic concepts.

Enjoy and thanks for the previous tips!

I got 168,000 and still it didnt even record on the leaderboards!!!!!!! It still give me steam achievements but it just wont record my scores. Ive done this today about 10 times and not one time that it records.

This time I got it, I'm just gonna repeat the same post I did in another thread:

Well I played again, did 130k and this time it recorded the score in the leaderboards, and got the objective done.

I added cascade.exe (the game's file located in the folder "common\droplitz") to my firewall exceptions and that probably helped.

It's pretty frustrating until you realize that while you are waiting for your droplitz to funnel through to get your points/extra droplitz, you should be moving other tiles to set yourself up for the next combo.

If you keep that in mind, you'll get it done super easy.

Took me two tries. Second try, I was doing that strategy and I got 186k

Good luck guys.

Kay I just did it.

I didn't find it was as rage inducing as AaAaAaA was. Playing after about a half hour you should start to see the connections. I found starting from the bottom was quite useful.

"Set a leaderboard score of at least 85,370 for 'Classic - Small Wonder' in Droplitz"

Is "Small Wonder" a Level in the Classic Mode? Or can I just get the Score in any Level to get the objective?

I`m frustrated -.-

EDIT: Okay, any Level... Got it ;)

Managed it on the third try. About 45K, 75k then 100k in scores. Not a bad game once I got into it. Certainly not the worse game in the treasure hunt so far imo. Fortunately that one only required playing the demo.:p

I was gonna give up but then I said okay one last try after watching that guide for it...

I think the tip that making a path as soon as you get onto a new board keeps your multiplier going, and tips on certain shapes in certain locations always have to be in a certain direction helped.

General tips for ya - Sorry you're finding the game a bit tough, it's not really a casual game tho, man up - you'll get there :)

1) It is often easier to start from the bottom and work your way up.

2) Make sure to line up the dials at the top and bottom first to allow as much time as possible before the Droplitz
hit a dead end.

3) If you have completed every possible path you can use the Fast Forward ability to speed up the Bonus Droplitz and get to the next round

and i posted some scoring tips in the other thread:

1) Causing a path to be created as the new dials fall into place makes your Score Multiplier carry over to the next round and can lead to high scores. When this happens it is known as a Chain Reaction. You can make Chain Reactions easier to set up by hanging on to your U-Dials.

2) Zen dials are worth hanging on to as they are worth more depending on how many you use at once. If you use only
one Zen dial you will gain 500 points, if you use two at once you will gain 1,000 each, while using three at once will
make them worth 1,500 each. This combined with your Score Multiplier can make a enormous difference to your final score.

3) Whilst Fast Forwarding Bonus Droplitz can help you to reach the next round quickly it can also lead to lower scores as you miss out on the points you might have gained from additional Droplitz that would have fallen into the board and been collected. When playing for High Scores it is recommended that you only use Fast Forward when you truly NEED to get to the next round quickly; For example: if you have only one path and cannot create any more.

I have to say that I've played far more droplitz then I expected that I would after my first 20 minutes with the game.

I'm sitting at about four hours of gameplay now, and I understand the basics of the game. But I still find it more then a little vexing at times. The biggest reason I'm playing it is my pride doesn't want to take the hit on not being able to unlock all the gameplay modes.

I haven't, getting stuck on the Zen mode and not being able to get a high enough score to unlock the next stage. But I do have to say thanks to steam I have given this game another go in order to get the treasure hunt objective. And not just for myself, but I was enlisted to help out a friend who was unwilling to give droplitz more time.

I personally don't like the 'man up' comment about having to tough out a game to get good at it. My pride again takes a hit and makes me defensive about my inablility to master what is usually just a small mini game inside better games :)

But I think part of the reason I'm finding it challenging is that in order to make it stand alone as it's own game is the heightened difficulty level. If it was easy I'd be more annoyed at it.
