Only reason I didn't do it on the first was because I reset after losing the first level, not realising I had another 2 levels to go to make the 11,200,000.....

It wasn't actually that bad, the one what was in droplitz was much worse in my opinion. But shouldnt a objective be about a challange, and feel rewarded when you finally get it ? Thats what I felt when after tons of tries I finished the objective.

With keyboard and with xbox360 pad, my record was 9,900,000, no matter how many times I tryed it.

The first time I tryed with the mouse, I did 10,800,000. In a few more atemps... 12,300,000.

With the mouse it's really easy.

P.S.: and without using the "sneaky way", just playing at regular speed.

I hate to be one of those people but, compared to this Droplitz was so easy. I absolutely CRUSHED the high score on that on my second attempt, like several times over. First attempt I didn't even know how to play the game. Yet this one is killing me.

I guess the difference is, Droplitz requires planning and a little quick thinking, reflexes don't really come into play. Shatter is 90% reflexes, really. So it kinda makes sense that a lot of people enjoy one but not the other.

Agreed :P They just want you to buy the game and play it so you'll recommend it to friends. There's NO reason to make it harder than 2 or 3 tries, if anything that is counter-productive because now you're pissed off and will tell everyone else not to bother. It's fun to make it more than just "load the game for achievement!" but this is just dumb.

Almost every other achievement could be eared within less then 30 minutes. I know other people have gotten it (and congrats to them) but should't it be an achievement "everyone"

Droplitz was a walk in the park, maybe because that actually required a brain, instead of fast reflexes.

already had 3 violent outbreaks at this game. Might try with a different mouse and pad, ~9mil seems to be the best i can get. Why oh why does the trajectory keeps changing, this would be way more fun without the pad "sucking" the balls.

You heard the man! Drop everything, cancel your appointments, and get some caffiene. Shatter clearly deserves hours of dedication (while the others never required more than 20 minutes).

Incidentally, I put almost no forethought into my Droplitz moves and had the requirement before it came out. So Droplitz IS part luck.

It's a stupid reason to complain, but I do agree that it's a really annoying achievement. Provided you don't suck real bad it's generally the balls bumping into eachother right at the end that messes you up.

I got 16 million there because on the final stage the ball kinda got stuck in a bouncing loop and I just kept the pad in more or less the same area.

Good thing too I was starting to curse this game and I used to love it. Tip for next time devs/Valve make one of the much more fun modes the objective then I won't hate it.

I think it took me 3 tries and I'm not that good at this stuff.

When trying to keep your last ball afloat, make sure to hit it square in the middle of your paddle if you can. You don't want it to hit the sides and especially not at a sharp angle.

Well, it'll probably take you at least that just to unlock the bonus mode. You have to play 3 campaign scenarios first, each with about 7 levels.

tbh I think today's achievements are a bit more involved than previous ones. The L4D2 achievement also takes some time (if you don't use mods to "hack" it)

If its driving you mad, just use cheat engine to get the score. Search for your current score then change the score to 9999999 or something. Took me about 30 min where i kept getting 10mil then all of the sudden i got real lucky and got 18 mil.

got 11,700,000. just tried to hit the balls at the right angles while keeping 3 in play as long as possible, and i also did a bit of praying that they didn't collide at higher speeds. shouldn't need to go through the trouble of trying to slow the game down to beat this. i also raised my mouse sensitivity in setpoint because i couldn't find an option ingame.

As far as the challenge itself, I think this is the first one that's come up for a game I already owned that I hadn't already completed before the contest started. I'm kind of determined to get it with the 360 controller, since that's what I played the main game with originally when my mousing wrist was hurt, but it seems kind of unlikely that it'll happen (stuck at just over 10 million), so I might have to resort to un-handicapping myself and use the mouse.

Yay for it being one of the objectives, though, because I almost forgot how much I liked some parts of the game.

Edit: Holy crap is it a lot easier with the mouse. Took me a couple tries to get used to it being too sensitive, but after that it was like suddenly winning a foot race by using your car, when you're used to doing it uphill both ways in the snow with 60 pounds of bricks strapped to your back.

The main issue however, is that it's based on the least fun (...and most annoying) gameplay mode shatter has to offer. Just doesnt make sense to me.
