I can't wait until the console systems end after this or the next Gen so I can have developers take the PC market seriously. ;_;
Blizzard and Valve are about the only two devs I feel confident enough to pre-order from anymore.

apparently the reasons are because they have to carefully test the demo on a lot of systems which takes extra dev time. I don't really buy it myself, I think its mostly because it makes it easier for pirates to crack the game.
I think PC gamers appreciate a demo, even if its buggy, far more than no demo at all. Surely with a month left they have the game in a runnable state.
I have a PS3 so I will try the demo on that, but I will be buying one or more copies on PC.

Maybe they haven't finished back-porting it to PC yet, ans as such don't have enough optimised code ready for a PC demo.
And yes, releasing a demo could indeed help with cracking the final product, giving scene members a good long while to play around with the code.
Hopefully publishers will eventually learn that little things like the lack of a demo, optimisation and AA support etc will loose them even more customers than pirates in the long run.

This isn't looking good for PC. Why didn't they release a demo?

well, EA already confirmed that there will be no PC demo. I know it is a bad idea. but EA seems to push this way for the future no matter what game will be. they just figure something out for making money. so they think that PC game market doesn't seem good. it's slowly died. I am not sure. who will win or lose. if all game would make for PC, follow PC hardware standard, your console gamers can't play games. you know what I mean. PC hardware already exceeds over console at least 10 years. so no matter how console gamers are happy, PC gamers just ignore them. I wish that gaming industry would change their standard so that console gamers will be struggle. because many people can't afford to buy gaming PC? really? I don't get it. you know, playing with mouse, keyboard is so much easier than damn game pad. reaction time is so slower on gamepad. for example, do you know who is the most top gamers on COD (any series)? they are all PC gamers. remember.

I always smile at these games with no demo. I mean how stupid can this be. The latest success EA made was MOH when you had to preorder the game to try demo and see if you like it. I mean ROFLAMO.
Generaly games suck and they have probable come to a conclusion that its more profitable to have no demo - so that people cannot try it out first and see it sucks and then not buy it.
As they wish, i know i would not buy any game without trying it out first. OK, for some cheaper ones even youtube and a couple of reviews will do.
Preorder - nah thank you, never again for any AAA game. I have and will continue to preorder interesting indie games (Frozen Synapse, Natural Selection 2, Overgrowth, Revenge of the titans,...) because they usually turn into a fun game. AAA titles tend to have major consolitis disease lately and there is no guarantee i would like the game and all that for the combined price of the above indie games. Thank you, but i will wait some time and buy it for cheaps, even if it has no armor+47 luck included.

well, it depends on how people approach to game. console boxes still have demo which PC gamers can't. it's sucks enough. at least we have to try it out before playing full game whether it is pissed off or not.

I was really hoping for a Dead Space 2 demo since im considering getting it for the pc and with all the bad things I heard about the pc version of the first one I wanted to try out the pc version. I've been downloading third person shooter demos to see if they play better on pc and so far im really impressed. Download the arkham asylum demo last night and im thinking about selling my ps3 version to buy the pc version.

well, game has been changed since 2009, man even though I don't like console boxes. both companies develop for console version as well. Blizzard already hired somebody to develop next their game which is coming up 2012 later. portal 2 will be out for xbox 360, PS3, PC.
by the way, your post is nothing to do with dead space 2 demo for PC because you didn't mention single of it if you are not an idiot.
I am fine with that. that demo is the same as EA showed E3 2010 last year. I was participated in Con. I played it. the same demo. I don't care. just wait for 19 days, will you?

If you're happy then that's great. His post, while not strictly on the topic of a demo as such was relevant.
Many are under the impression that things like not having a demo released for PC, no Anti Aliasing support for titles (defered rendering be damned, working with GPU vendors can solve that issue in most cases) and limited configurability are an insult and I tend to agree to some extent.
So EA showed the demo at E3. So what? Only a small handful of people compared to the whole market for this game on PC attended and you were one of the relative "few" that played it. People who didn't aren't given the option to try before they buy.
A lot of people may resort to pirating the game just to see if it's any good. Some do say they'll buy it if they like it, but how many actually do? I bet for every one that does, 2-3 more that had that intention decide just to play the copy.

Well...depending on your morality, every PC game has a demo. :P
