Title says all

Even if it wasn't at as big a discount it would still be better than playing for a game I already own.

I actually find this very odd that the game is cheaper than all the DLC at the moment, and combined is only $2 dearer than the DLC by itself.

Umm, or you could buy the DLC themselves. I mean, it'd be nice to have the DLC in a bundle, but in reality that's not the point of the DLC system. And I think even without a discount, it's still cheaper to buy the 4 separate DLC packs than to buy the discounted bundle ($8 compared to $9.50, US. No idea if you're from outside the states and if so, what the pricing would be.)

Oh yeah, let's screw with the guys who bought KF before and the new ones we give the DLCs almost for free. :)

I am bumping this. I want to know why new players get the DLC for £1.50 while players who bought the game at full price will have to pay out triple the price and the new players get the game cheaper too.

I know the DLC isn't expensive but its screwing over existing players. I want an answer from the devs even if it is "we want more monies"

I'm not sure I understand the issue, all the DLC's are available stand alone at what should be reasonable prices for the different currencies based on what those currencies were at when the dlc was released.

And at this time there is no discount on the DLC's (least to my knowledge)

Me neither. Are you guys talking about how the bundle is on sale for 66% off?

DLC included with game bundle: £1.50
DLC on its own £4.50

I want to know why you guys are making older players pay more than new ones, many of which are only here for TF2 items.

I know the DLC is optional but my point still stands.

If i wanted to buy the DLC it would cost me 3x more than new players who get everything on sale.

if you really want the DLC then buy them, me I can wait for a good sale price (or might make an xmas gift exchange with my cousin and we buy it for each other)

TheBogStandardU

I can wait for a good sale price

That's my problem, there's a sale on right now and only new players are getting the DLC at a reduced price.

To get the DLC for £4.50 I would be paying nearly as much as new players are getting the base game for which is ridiculous. The base game is going for £5.10 right now so new players only pay 60p more for a full game compared to what I'd be paying for skins.

...Wait, what? Here in the US, the DLCs are the same price in the bundle and alone. I just asked a friend of mine in Greater Britain to check it out too, and he said its the same for him.

Are you complaining because a product's price was reduced and you didnt benefit? That's how holiday sales work, my friend. :S

I think this is asking for a DLC only package. Some may only have Killing Floor, but want to bulk buy the DLC in one go. I just buy them as new ones crop up.

Game with DLC: £6.61
Game without DLC:£5.10
DLC on its own: £4.45

That means new users are paying £1.51 for the DLC if they buy the bundle compared people who already own the game who have to pay £4.45 which is around triple the price.

What I would like is if people who already own the game could get a DLC only budle for around £2.50 or £3.

I just got the bundle on sale and I still agree with the OP. The OP wants a dlc bundle for 66% off. When you buy the "Killing Floor Complete Pack" you get the DLC for %66 off but when you buy the DLC seperately there is no discount. I think players that bought the game ahead of time should still be able to benefit from the sale ; there is nothing out of line about that request.

you're obviously blind

in the first pic you posted

Killing Floor is $6.80 with 66% discount and each DLC is $2 yet the total price is $9.50 when it should be $14.80 if the DLCs weren't discounted so obviously the DLCs are discounted.

I will reiterate, lets older users get a discount on the DLC too TWI. I know the DLC is not needed but you are still screwing over older players in favour of new ones.

Lol. That's like saying that games should go more expensive as time passes.

While it makes some sense, if you consider that people who play on release date have to face bugs and less content, it doesn't make any business wise.

you took my quote out of context, im saying new players who buy the game plus dlc get the game AND dlc at discount, while players who already own the game get no discount on the dlc.

GC13

Well the entire gaming industry uses the pricing model known as "skimming", where the price starts high and lowers as time goes on. The idea is that the people who value the game more highly will get the game early on; even if they know the price will come down they probably value the game enough so that several months playing it is worth the higher price.

Why you would be surprised when DLC is used as part of the skimming action, I don't know. All I know is that including the DLC in the bundle netted Valve $2.70 more in revenue than if they had been $2 a pop.

TheBogStandardU
12-16-2010, 10:38 AM
Sigh... my point is that the DLC is on sale for new players but not on its own for older players and it's screwing us over as they should have their own sale too separately.

about to say that
*NINJA'd*

Yeah, normally when there's a sale the game and all the DLC are discounted.
However, this time the Game and Game Bundle are discount. Where as the individual DLC's aren't.

Isn't this the same treatment Gratuitous Space Battles got?

Anyway, you missed my point: the concern is harvesting revenue, and they seem to think they can best do that by not offering the DLC on sale yet.

This has been painful to read; Almost no body gets what they're saying. I half agree with both sides though, whether it should be on sale or not, as a separate

From what I can tell this is just a price irregularity for the UK, and I'm not sure how it happened. In the US store it is fine.

Frantic89

I just bought the game a few days ago at the full $20 price.
The thing I don't understand is that you're not offering a discount to people who have paid MORE than new players.
I could kind of understand a discount on DLC for new players if they were to pay full price, but I find this baffling.

Are you just trying to make more money off of older players?
Is your reasoning behind it "Well if older players plan on buying the DLC during the sale than they'll most likely just pay the extra $1.50 for an extra copy of the game".
It's smart if that's what you're doing, but it sure is underhanded.

I wont be buying any DLC unless you offer the same 66% off deal on DLC alone, and I'm sure that wont happen.

From what I can tell this is just a price irregularity for the UK, and I'm not sure how it happened. In the US store it is fine.

I did the math
(making a chart on SPUF sucks but stick with me)

.......Normal price..Sale Price
Game...$19.99........$6.59
Bundle.$27.75........$9.22
DLC(4)..$7.96........No sale on it

Meaning a new person buying the game bundle spends $2.63 on the four DLC (Which is 66% off price). However the individualy list DLC's are all the normal price. Basically, the moral of the story is the DLC's didn't get a sale price unless they were a part of the bundle.(which to my memory hasn't been the case before, everything got the same discount)

However it doesn't matter anymore as the sale is over.

TheBogStandardU
12-16-2010, 04:55 PM
yeah the sale is over, thanks for screwing us over. Im not really that mad as we just got a great update.

Ill just say that i wont ever pay for their dlc unless it is 66% off or more in the future which will likely be a long time away.

I posted this on the suggestions forum but this is what I think about DLC content.

DLC Character skins giving passive bonuses:
From the recent Christmas update, I noticed that many people playing Team Fortress 2 purchased Killing Floor just to get the Mr. Foster mask and vise versa for Killing Floor players to get the two pyro outfits from Team Fortress. This is type of marketing also occurred when players from Killing Floor could unlock the awesome Indian Jones look alike skin by pre-ordering the new game The Ball. So why were we so tempted or gave into our temptations for something that didn’t actually enhance our game-player in Killing Floor?

Well personalization is a big part of Killing Floor, from perks to weapons to play style and to character skins. These are some of the things that made this game so unique and amazing. As much as we love the looks and the personal bios of the character skins we choose, I think it would be even better if each DLC skin gave our characters a small passive ability like how the purchasable props from Team Fortress would give to certain classes, while the stock characters that come with the game don’t give us any additional stats.

This would mean that each individual DLC skin would include passive abilities such as a further 15% damage reduction, 5% speed increase, 20% increase welding or syringe recharge because of the character’s history and bio, and the list is endless. This also mean that there can only be one of each character skin per game and would actually help others players distinguish person to person and bring a whole new meaning of personalization and game-play.

To be honest, I don’t mind purchasing the new DLC that Killing Floor offers us during every big update because it is inexpensive and I also want to support Tripwire for their amazing work. I believe that Tripwire can make a lot more money by even increasing the cost of their DLC content, if they had a little more meaning for players to purchase the DLC, which is not just for the looks. For a new player, the stats of the DLC characters could mean leveling up faster for certain perks, while for an experienced player, it would mean better suiting the role of your perk without increasing the maximum perk level cap to 7.

“Don’t tell me that Agent Wikes wearing his heavy Kevlar vest doesn’t take less physical damage, or Foundry Worker Aldridge with his many hours of work can’t weld faster than anyone else, or Lance-Corporal Lee Baron who doesn’t take less damage from explosives wearing his heavy demolitions outfit, or Trooper Clive Jenkins with this experience in the military can’t reload a gun faster than the average Joe, or Paramedic Alfred Anderson who can’t patch wounds faster than you and I, or the two flamethrower guys from TF2 who don’t have any resistance or benefits with fire!”

Pretty much. I really couldn't care less about new skins but I love Killing Floor and I like having the chance to support Tripwire. Of course, the DLCs are also quite reasonably priced. I buy each one on its release date.
