Completely different, MNC is more like dota with building and protecting bases. Only resemblance is art style. Classes is stock like in ♥♥♥♥load of games: Snipers, tanks, assaults, stealths and stuff.

Aside from being shooters, and having cartoony graphics, there's no real similarity in the gameplay.
Kinda like comparing TF2 to Borderlands.

The main difference is the presence of creeps and buildings in MNC.

MNC is faster paced, and the gameplay is centered around bots that you have to buy and escort to the enemy base. There's also a co-op survival mode where you can just kill waves of bots.

This game is if TF2 MOBA style game and Tower defense made a baby, and that baby is MNC. Comparing it solely with TF2 is wrong.

There aren't any significant similarities.

About the most you can say for similarities is that we've got one class that's a little like the Heavy, another a little like the spy, another a little like the Pyro (Much better suited for his role than poor Pyro is IMHO) and another that's like medic and engi rolled into one.

That's about it unless you want to include the humor and cartoon styles, but those are different enough from each other that there's no mistaking the two.

When I play TF2 now as heavy I want to switch to my mortar launcher and all I get is a sandwich.

Its not soo much like dota/HoN that litle kids will rage if you don't buy exactly the right item at the right time is it? Also does it have the impossible learning curve the dota/hon have?

I am interested in the game but don't want to waste my money on another game that will just sit on my hd or in my games list unused because of a super ♥♥♥♥ty community.

People can and will get frustrated if you continually fail to do your job, but because this game is more towards the traditional shooter fare, it's less likely to get the "by-the-numbers" nerd-ragers that HoN/LoL provides.

People are generally calm enough, and there are in fact laughs here and there. Most frustration right now is due to testing.

Good to know I will check it out then as I tired of TF2 a long time ago and totally wrote it off after the mancomany update. I have been looking for a unique shooter experience to take its place.

Wrong forum, but yeah, they took the best multiplayer game ever written and ruined it :(

That's why I'm pleased about this game though. co-op lan mode, my son likes it, it's (sort of) out in 2010 (as opposed to every other game I'd earmarked to buy that has been delayed until next year) and it's still about shooting stuff rather than collecting stuff.

The only rage I've felt/seen in this game so far has been when a team has been completely destroying the other - but even so, the game's still kinda fun to lose, which is great :D

The items and skills that you pick from aren't important, as long as you use them well.
If you prefer health on your Assault over fire power, then who's going to judge? Same with if you level his charge over his flight.

As long as you do what you're supposed to (shoot things, upgrade turrets if you can/want to), everyone's cool.

I don't think that there are surfing tricks in Unreal Engine games.

Not in this game, from what I've seen so far. The maps aren't designed for wall sliding.

The only thing this game is similar in to TF2 is graphics. THAT'S IT. the rest is closer to DotA with defense building and bots and such. Also faster-paced and actually needs real strategic planning and teamwork to achieve your goal.

Honestly I enjoy myself way more with MNC's Sniper then with TF2's Sniper and the Assassin can grapple the *ss of the spy any day of the week.

I got trolled pretty hard by a laggy assassin earlier, I won't lie. She'd be coming at me or behind me, I'd stomp, or grapple, and my stuff would just... miss. Like I'd connect with the model, and they wouldn't fly back, it would basically just put me in front of her and perfect for a backstab while I waited to pull my gun out again. It happened... a lot. In one round, to both of the assaults on the team and me.

Although it made winning that much more satisfying.
