This game won't load for me either but the error isn't quicktime,
for me it says that I don't have a current enough directx version, my version is Aug. 2010.
I've removed the game, installed it again and updated all of my
Alienware drivers, now what?

I installed direct x 9, now I get the quicktime error that others have trouble with. I removed the latest version of quicktime then re-installed the game expecting to get the option of installing the quicktime version that the game wants but that option didn't happen. How do I find, install the version of quicktime that the game needs?

I removed the latest version of quicktime (7.6.9) then went to Apple-support-downloads and found the link to previous versions; downloaded and installed version 7.6.
Game now plays.
Definitely had to install direct x 9 at the get go.
My system: Alienware M17X, Windows7 64bit.

I hope there is a patch to fix these issues as quick time and direct x should have been fixed to begin with. It doesn't make much since that a user has to revert to a older version of quick time just because the game designers didn't use the latest version or its incompatible? Let me know when you fix this and I'll buy it.

It's hard to know every possible combination of things that can cause a problem with your product. PC's have always suffered from this because of the sheer amount of combinations of components.
I have an m17x laptop like the topic creator did, and mine installed and worked perfectly with no issues at all. It's luck of the draw to some extent.
