View Full Version : Another bad purchase

Really not that fun. It was my mistake, buying it without a demo. It's just an airplane themed version of Diner Dash. The game is really annoying, with the AI having a tendency to drop new planes in right on top of existing planes without any warning or ability to reroute. Even if it's cheap, I'd advise anyone looking at this game to wait for a demo and try it first.

Sorry you had a bad buy. At least it's not from a more expensive game.

The game is much more suited to phones (since it started life as an iPhone app).
Also the game does give warning when a new plane comes in, there is a red circle with an exclamation mark in it at the point the plane will come in at and it sits there for a few seconds before the plane appears.

I think he meant planes appearing on top of each other.

I played the game for a couple of hours over the weekend with a friend, we both had lots of fun.
I'm not sure what you mean by "drop new planes in right on top of existing planes". We played the game at various levels/screens, and I don't recall ever having that problem.
The only feature I wish the game had was the ability to log high scores to two (or more than two) different people, and even better, to their Steam accounts. My friend and I were playing hot seat, and all the high scores were logged against my account. No big deal, the game is great fun.

You get a throbbing exclamation mark about 3 secs before someone enters your airspace. Besides, you should not be flying planes at the edge of the screen. Pull them in as quickly as possible.

Sorry to hear you hated it. I don't play it every day, but when I am on hold during a tech support call or just have a few minutes to kill at the end of the day at work, it is fun to play.
I would say that most people are probably aware that this came from the iPhone/iPad and Windows Mobile Phone, and as a side product, got ported to the PC.

Mouse gesture is more accurate if you can draw straight lines.
I enjoy it. I thought $2.5 is a lot given what's on sale but I can't complain. It's the definition of small, casual games.

I wasn't keen on this game after buying playing it for a bit either.
Doesn't seem like the warning time for off screen plane's is enough or it could be handled differently. Maybe add a zoom feature or have an area bordering the screen that you can't route a plane through so you can have a visual of incoming aircraft.
Why would it be on sale again for a lower price than the first time? (during the pre-Christmas sale) Sure it's only 80 cents buy why?

A lot of the games have been on sale as part of the daily deals that were on sale before becoming one, just a way to save even more money if you are patient.
I wasn't sure on getting this game before but figured I might as well at that price. It's fun enough, just as something to waste time.

I'm enjoying this game quite a bit. I am bothered by the AI bringing two planes in at the same time and at the same location. There is not enough time to pull them apart when this happens. I have noticed that it happens more often on the bottom right part of the screen.
Overall a great game with a lot of potential. I'd like to see something like this get built up into a more 'serious' control simulator.
You can't go wrong for the money.

This. Especially when a helicopter comes first then a jet comes in directly behind it. You can't do anything about it.

I am finding that this is less of a problem as I get more experience. It still happens but I've learned to pull the airplanes in from the edge of the screen right away. It's kind of crappy to have to do that but it works. Still shows the programming has a ways to go. I'm sure this could easily be fixed by a more robust random generator scheme.

A great way to kill a few minutes. I shut off the music and let my itunes just run while playing (sound effects still on). Simple game yet engaging as hell. I still have yet to play anything other than the easiest map :p

Great game, and no it doesn't dump planes on top of other one, you get several seconds warning, and how about you don't fly your planes round the edge of the map in the first place. Sounds like someone has played the game for 2 minutes and just decided they didn't like it without giving it a fair chance.
I've got a top 4% score on 3 levels now and I'm having a blast with it.

It's a great game, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to stick to playing on my iPhone and iPad. It's definitely a great game but it's much more difficult using a mouse than a touchscreen. I'm lucky to break 100 on the PC version but my top score on the mobile version is ~2300, not to mention how sore my wrist is after a game. It sucks getting old!
I don't feel it's money wasted though. Firemint produces quality games and I don't mind throwing a few extra bucks their way.

this game is fun, hardly a AAA release but i dont think that the game tries to pretend to be one. i got it as part of the treasure hunt, and have only played it a few times. waiting out the tsunami warning on a netbook by a closed starbucks with their wifi on, thanks. d/ls fast and gives me something to do. well worth $2.50!

This is the reason this thread shouldn't exist.
I'm very happy with my purchase. My or your experience or liking of the game isn't enough to brand it as good or bad. No need to downtalk the game in this manner. If you didn't like it, say you didn't like it.

I don't understand. Sure, there isn't a demo, but you can get a pretty darn clear idea of exactly what the game is like, from the trailer alone. What you see is what you get. If you couldn't tell whether or not you'd enjoy the game by the trailer, then I don't know what to tell you, because that's really weird.
At any rate, I love this game.

Really fun game, I've spent 4 hours already on it and barely scratched the surface :D
Worth the purchase for sure.

I like the game a lot, I have roughly 9 hours into the game and IIRC I payed ~ $2.50 for it.

Bought it for 4€ i find it fun but maybe a little more content could be added, aswell as updating the game art. Other than that a fun casual game worth my money i'd say.
