#1 I see ppl talking about "Gold" vs "standard" edition. Which one is the one that is on sale? (I only see one game when I search for "resident" on steam store, period, so hopefully it's "gold".)
#2 I've played most every "kill tons of dumb AI, w/ vastly superior weaponry" game since "Doom" (and I have no problem with that as a basic premise!!). Recently, played tons of L4D/2 and Killing Floor. So, how is this game going to stack up with those in terms of providing a FUN, REPLAYABLE, CHALLENGING co-op, vs., and single-player experience? (I've never played RE b4; it always looked decently cool but like I said I've had my hands full with plenty other games. ;) ) Replayability is most important, TBH. If it's just "run thru the campaign maps w/ a friend", that's not that exciting, but if it has some sort of "survival" mode or whatever, now we're talking!
#3 just to make it crystal clear, the multiplayer modes are over a network, right, not some split screen console garbage or anything like that??
TY.

Only the console re-release (on PS3 only I think) is the "gold" version.

Gold version is only on consoles but you are not losing much. Co-op is online or LAN.

There is a survival mode, however I find the story mode much more rewarding. I've sunk 76 hours into this game, and I think I want to play through it again ;)

Fun - game is definintely fun, with an interesting story and pretty solid gameplay all the way through.
Replayability - just like any other game I guess. There is a lot of unlockables and the mercenaries mode, Im just not into that.
Challenging - yep, it is, but in a good way in my oppinion.
Also note that this is more of an action game than a survival horror.

Don't worry about the DLC Friendliest, they're not worth it anyway as the PC version is superior to the console versions and we did get some DLC the console users didn't.
How is the PC version better than the PS3/♥♥♥♥box 360 version, I own this game both on PS3 and PC, and they play the same, look the same, controll the same. So I don't see what's this PC version is better stuff is about...
Plus, PS3 got PS Move support for RE5, I'd say that makes the Mouse accuracy equal.

That's called full HD,
And like I said before,
They play the same,
Look the same,
Basically are the same. So stop the PC fanyboy act...
And by the way, I can't put my RE5 on 1680x945, so shut up >.>

PS3 don't need DX, PS3 don't need graphic options, simple HD or SD, you got HD you got same as highest on PC. You are a whiny ♥♥♥♥♥ with your OMFG 30 FPS IS WAY TOO LOW, games can easily be played with 30. 3D gaming is also just a small lil feature that not much people can do at first, and at second isn't that ♥♥♥♥ing amazing. PS3 can do 3D, but it's capcom saying they want it there or not. And multiple screens, well every gaming system can do multiple screens.

Please go back to console gaming, you clearly don't understand/appreciate the perks of being a PC gamer.
mate I'd ignore him, It's kinda like flogging a dead horse.
There will always be someone who thinks Consoles out-do PC's in every way possible, I can agree with you that PC's are indeed superior, I mean.. for one, you won't get community made mods on Console Versions and PC games have higher graphics quality ( not to mention eyefinity ) whereas Consoles only have one Visual output.
Oh and BTW Tedmani, what do you think is used to make the console games ???
Hmm.. Let me answer that for you.. P..C
please try to educate yourself a little better before getting involved in an argument about PS3 being better than a PC.
Your replies have nothing to do with the OP's question and is therefore Void.
I've played on both PC and PS3 and the experience is Similar to say the least in terms of gameplay.
Visually the PC comes out the winner.

Someone said something about mods. Is there a mod to change the controls to a more gears of war style? If so I may just consider this game for the price. Fov/camera angle is another thing I would love to mod out if possible.
If such mods exist this game is a buy easily as that would fix the 2 main issues I had with the console version.

I am PC/Console gamer, I master both of em, and know they are both great.

RE5's native resolution on BOTH consoles is 1280×720. Meaning you have "720p" actual. Going to 1080p simply upscales (interpolates) the picture and smears it with anti-aliasing or some-such post-processing.
Consolebros need to learn how native resolution works.
PS3bros need to learn about the complications between porting a DX game into PS3's architecture. There are often obstacles - developers are on a schedule - which means these obstacles often aren't solved, just compromised.
In short, many crossover games, including RE5, are better on the 360 than the PS3.
And yeah, the PC version completely kicks arsehood out of both console versions. TRUE "1080p" and beyond. Not to mention that the console versions are LOCKED at 30fps - with the PS3 still getting framerate drops.

You're not fooling anybody here.
I could go on a rant with all the problems I have with the things you have said like Gizmo did, but clearly you are either a troll or a lost cause.

Other than the fact you can't move and shoot at the same time or take cover as easily, this game practically plays like Gears of War already. If you're looking for something to let you move and shoot at the same time, you should really consider just not playing this game at all.

No, that's not Full HD. Full HD or 1080p is just a marketing name for 1920 x 1080. 2560 x 1600 is quite a lot more than 1080p. Besides, RE5 on the PS3 only displays in 720p, which is 1280 x 720... Another thing is the horrible lack of V-Sync, which you can enable on the options screen of the PC version, and the very noticeable frame rate drops. The mine zone when you carry a light is a very good example. No, the 2 versions DO NOT look the same, no way in hell.

Wow... You've just shown your complete lack of understanding regarding HD, graphics, resolution, the idea of min/max framerates, etc... o_O
And then later claimed that you have mastered both PC and console gaming, while showing your ignorance of the basics of PC gaming... Open mouth, insert foot.
