//Edit4:
Ok Guys, i found an even better way to update your Game.
Just download the Patchfiles from my mirrors(.rar) extract them, and put them in your steamapps/common/anno 1404.
Its simply the same as the updater does, but we do it by our own hands.
Have fun!
Mainmirror:
http://rapidshare.com/files/439154189/anno_1404update.rar
(No waiting time Since i use my Trafficsharepoints)
Other Mirrors:
http://netload.in/dateizlUpqfpvhX/an...update.rar.htm
//Edit5:
58 Downloads and just one Comment on this? I guess it works fine by many of you?
//Edit1/2/3: Old Version
Use and modify this Registrykey to point the installer to the Steamapp Anno 1404 folder. (After installing, use cmd->regedit and search for Ubisoft and change the dir)
http://rapidshare.com/files/438856419/Anno.reg
or
http://uploaded.to/file/urs2lv
When you done it right, the installer from Ubisoft will update the game to 2.1. Remember to turn of the Autoupdate in Steam, so that it dont pushes you back to 2.00. Now you can play Online with the normal Annoplayers.
Edit//:
Here is a much better Version of my Turtorial (Tested on Windows 7 64bit) inlc. Pictures (in Zipfile):
1) Download Anno 1404 + Venice v 2.00 from Steam.
2) Download Anno 1404 Venice Patch 2.1 from http://anno.de.ubi.com/downloads.php.
3) Download the Regfiles and install them (Doubleclick on them and follow instructions)
http://rapidshare.com/files/439027146/Annoinstall.zip NEW! or http://depositfiles.com/files/xgl7fatr7NEW!
4) Run regedit.exe (Start/run or use the Livesearch or use the CMD)
5) Serach for {3D9CF3CA-3AB0-4A82-9853-D7C43FD1D775}
5a) And change Displayicon,InstallLocation and point it where steam did install your Anno.
6) Serach for {A07B2C21-863B-47AB-AE7E-20BB00BD7D33}
6a) And change Displayicon,InstallLocation and point it where steam did install your Anno Venice.
ATTENTION THIS ONLY WAS TESTED ON A 64Bit SYSTEM. (THIS ALSO COULD WORK ON 32bit IF YOU PUT THE UBISOFTKEY IN HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\)
7) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft
7a) And change in Anno1404\GameUpdate the Installdir to where you installed Anno1404 and your language.
7b) And change in Anno1404 Addon\GameUpdate the Installdir to where you installed Anno1404 Venice and your language.
8)Install the Patch
9)Play!

I'll be waiting for somebody to test it out before I purchase the game on steam.
And preferably somebody who's been on steam for more than a month.

I sent this to a friend of mine. He wants to update his. But again Ubisoft hasn't done any updates for the online gaming stores.

Your Onlineprofil should work fine again when you Rollback to 2.00 by using Steamautoupdate.
But this is really strange....

The just copying all the files worked for me, I haven't played online yet, but it seems it is working!
Thank you very much, steam should have offered the same support though.

No issues here. I just copied the files into the Steam DoD folder.
I did create a copy of the DoD folder so I could easily fall back.
Oh, and I have had DoD and DoDV since they came out.

Did not work when I unzipped into my Dawn of Discovery folder in steamapps. It asks me to register for that DRM scheme with Ubisoft, then when I try to launch it the game just crashes with "Dawn of Discovery has encountered a problem blah blah and needs to close blah". Running Win7 64bit.

To the people that can't get it working. Re-download the game through steam and add the patch files again.
Make a backup copy of the Anno 1404/Dawn of Discovery folder before you use the patch files.
If its still not working after you complete the above, I am not sure what to tell you, as the majority here has it working flawlessly.
It must be a system issue on your end. Also after I patched my game, I was not asked to register anything DRM related. I patched clicked shortcut on desktop and played normally.

I tried this yesterday with a friend. Worked fine for both our machines which are running Win 7 x64, Dawn of Discovery: Gold. We accidentally extracted the files into a subfolder in the directory. Once we noticed that mistake, we moved them out of the subfolder and they overwrote the old files. After doing that, we booted up DoD: Venice and it worked perfectly. Thanks for making the process easy!

There's no need to do this anymore. Steam just updated the game to 2.1.

Still can't get it to work, but thanks for your efforts anyway.

That is for all users outside of North America. Still no update for us folks in the U.S. I'm afraid to lose another 4 hours of gameplay because of corrupt saves.

Probably not working because it's not for Dawn of Discovery. With a name like Anno1404updater.rar it sure sounds like it.

Except for the fact that numerous people in this thread reported successfully patching DoD via the instructions listed.

If yours is showing 2.01.5010 that is patch to the 2.1 patch. Everybody that doesn't have the patch it will show 2.00.5xx.

Thx for this but only Venice is updated, anno 1404 is alway version 1.2 and if you want to play the campagne you have to sart the game without the addon
some one have the 1.3 update as .rar/.zip ? (without troins and virus):D

Thanks again for this Bladway, downloaded those files works perfectly to get Venice 2.1 working on Steam. Here's a tip regarding the original game that's stuck at version 1.2 for us Steam users. The only thing you *need* the original for is the single-player campaign. So just play that in the original, and then *immediately* switch to playing Venice for every other game type, including the original 6 scenarios and all continuous games.
I don't ever recommend playing the original for anything other than the single-player campaign!

Thanks! Just unzipped the files and it worked like a champ. Had to insure it overwrote the originals instead of unpacking in a new directory, but it's finally updated :)
