tl;dr version:
Example of good/challenging combat: First 3 Princes of Persia, Assassin's Creed 1
Example of bad/ridiculously easy combat: Last 2 Princes of Persia, Assassin's Creed 2

Which one does Darksiders lean towards most?

Long Version:
How interesting/hard is combat in this game? Do you mash the same button over and over again until all enemies are dead? Or are there combos and situational skills (like blocking) that require good timing and reflexes?

To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, my favourite action game combat-wise was Pop Warrior Within, and the first 3 pops in general (not including the old 2d ones ofc). The first Assassin's Creed's combat was challengingly interesting too.

On the other hand, POP 2008 and POP Forgotten Sands, as well as Assassin's Creed 2, had ridiculously easy combat and I hated it.

So what's the situation with Darksiders?

Its good. Theres ok amount of moves and you should use some stragegy coz you wont survive if you just hit buttons randomly. Theres two melee weapons allways equided and one main button for each. Depends of where you point analog stick it makes different move and how long you hold button it also makes different move. Scythe has three hit combo and has finishing move where he trows scythe but you can also hit first twice with sword and then use scythe then he uses that throwing move and now you have different combo. Just a example. Theres also levels for weapons and for moves and weapons levels by using the weapon and moves levels by paying souls which you get by killing demons and souls can be found even in trashcans or anything you can destroy. There is lock on function which helps in tougher battles.

Theres good amount of depth for combat. Combat reminds me a lot of DMC series and God of war and You won't be disappointed combat wise, i can guarantee that much. Whats really great in this game is details. There many enchantmens in this game and you can put one in each weapon. Depends on rune it can make weapon look little different. Example: I put lifesteal rune/enchantment in scythe and it started to bleed.

In nutshell this game is challenging, deep, long and very good. Well thats what i think anyway. Few cons: Feels little repetive occasionally, MAKES YOU WAIT FOR DARKSIDERS 2.

How is AC1 harder than AC2? If anything the larger number of guards in AC2 made it harder than AC1 imo.

But yeah, it would be interesting to see what type of combat this game has. 10 hours till download is done...terrible, terrible internet.

Had easier time in AC2 than the first one, more tools to use and smoke bombs make the hordes of soldiers so easier to deal with. First game I had none of those.

Its differently challenging, i chose apocalyptic (the hardest difficulty), and its not too easy and not too hard, its just perfect, and if you dont have the brain and the timing youll be killed instantly. ive just finnished the game ón ny ps3, and i cant walt for darksiders 2. you Wont be dissapointed with this game, and its not just a hack and slash All the way, it also make you use your brain from time to time. And honestly 7.5€ is a steal.

Well one thing is that when a pack of guards surrounded you in AC1, you had to be very careful with your timing. You had to play defensively, and if you wanted to play offensively in that situation you had to be very good with your timing (blocking and countering), you couldn't just unleash a flurry of attacks in all directions and win, like you can in AC2.

Another thing is, in AC1 those templar dudes were really scary. I ♥♥♥♥ my pants whenever one of them attacked me. They would call on all of my bull♥♥♥♥ :D. More so, if one of them joined the mob that attacked you, you were pretty much ♥♥♥♥ed. Now on AC2, the tall armored dudes were lumbering oafs. The first time I fought one I was like, "was that it?".
