Hi

I'm thinking of buying ArmA II today, but whats keeping me from buying it is the fact that the first ArmA sucked. I was boring, tedious, slow paced and VERY buggy! the campaign was short and uninteresting.

But in the other hand, I loved Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis + Gold Upgrade + Resistance. I still play it to date!

So, is ArmA II better than the first ArmA? does it have that nostalgic feeling from Cold War Crisis?

(I have also played Dragon Rising and it was good, but not great, nothing spectacular. To sum it up, I still think the game wasn't worth $3 from yesterdays sale and I didn't buy it).

Any comments, suggestions and opinions are appreciated.

Thanks! :)

I'm not familiar enough with the Campaigns in Flashpoint/expansions to judge whether ARMA 2 lives up to your expectations.

But if you're gonna get it, get Combined Ops, or at very least, Arrowhead. No-one plays vanilla ARMA 2 online anymore.

It's still worth it even if you don't think you'll play online - Combined Ops improves the ARMA 2 content with enhancements made during the development of Arrowhead. Plus you get Arrowhead's content too!

You dont need steam...Buy the game and install it. If you already have steam ARMA2 just install Operation Arrowhead and it will locate your steam install and make it Combined Operations.

How can a new game have a nostalgic feeling?

That's a bit misleading. You absolutely can play the game on steam if you add it as a non-steam game. The steam chat overlay and everything will work just fine. The only difference is you won't get automatic updates pushed through Steam.

the steam automatic update on ARMA 2 remove too much files n gotta reinstall too much anyways, prob manual patching better. 400 MB vs 2 GB
