I get this too, however I get it on the original Prince Of Persia Game, Im in the process of frapps'ing it for a better understanding of the issue, would really like to have it resolved though, just bought it in the steam sale and its kind of a waste of money If it doesn't work...

the game starts up, it allows me to click the "launch the game" button, but then there is no response when the title screen comes up, and the "press any key to continue" text is missing, Im re downloading it atm, 8GB though, not really happy.

Did you open the steam overlay? (Shift + Tab)

Cause when you do the game no longer recieves any keyboard/mouse input. You can minimise the game (alt+tab) and enter the game again and it should work again ;)

no I didnt, I didnt do anything, things just got a little weirder too, I tried frapsing the issue to show what the problem is and it came up with a new problem

fraps wont record prince of persia, I have no idea why, the game starts and my screen shows prince of persia starting after I click launch the game, but fraps wont work in it, either way what I explained before still happens, the music starts and the title screen comes up but there is no "press any key to continue" messaage, the keyboard only replies to keyboard prompts that exit the game, like alt-f4, alt-tab and ctrl-alt-del.

pressing other keys has no response, esc doesn't even have effect, what can I do about resolving this, if it cant be resolved, how can I get a refund for this game.

I was thinking it might have to be run in compatibility mode in win7, but I dont know how to do that with steamgames.

You have to restart your computer after first-time setup of PoP 2008 for it to run properly.

does this mean I have to uninstall and reinstall "again" just to get it to work...or will restarting it now after its installed work, Ive already wasted 15gb of my monthly quota on this thing, I dont really want to do it again.

surely this could be fixed by steam in a patch or something, or at least give some instructions on what to do in a text file, just assuming customers will go and find the answer to these steam related problems without full disclosure of known issues upon purchase is pretty fail imo.

Yeah, not telling us the need for a restart was pretty fail. I would go ahead and try a restart without downloading it again because it worked for me.
