hey good news i found a best easy way for you to install Source dedicated server.

so first thing first


1-first look for hard drive wich have good free space to install source dedicated server.


example: i want to install source dedicated server in e:\ drive wich have 40 gb freespace.


2-download HldsUpdateToolHelper.exe link given below


DOWNLOAD HldsUpdateToolHelper.exe (http://ity.im/04vyq) click on skip when you open this link.

I scan this file with AVG 2011 and No virus found so dont get scare.


3- after download open HldsUpdateToolHelper.exe and select yes
yes mean you want to install hldsupdatetoolhelper.


4-Now you see new window open click next and then click i agree,now its ask you where you want to install,so click browse and chose where you want to install.


example: i choose e:\srcds ( srcds mean source dedicated server )


5-when you choose where you want to install now, click next and then click next again,it will install few files and ask you country name let it defualt and click next 3 times.


now its ask for step2 its mean you have to click on open hlds update tool and find exe file where you install it.


example: i install it on e:\srcds so i open this folder and select HldsUpdateTool.exe and i click ok then click next step.


6-now its ask you wich game you want to install,you have to click half-life 2 deathmatch and click install.


7-now you thinking why half-life 2 deathmatch ( i tell you why that,Because if you select half-life 2 deathmatch it will install hl2 files and hl2dm files and we need it.


so it will open a dos and going to install files so its take few minuts to download all files we need.


let it do his work and on that time you can make coffe or any thing you like to do.
it will download all files and then it will closed itself.



When you done downloading.

you have to paste those files in your server install folder. Link Given Below

SRCDS-FILES-DOWNLOAD (http://ity.im/04vzj) Click on skip when you open this link.

example:e:\srcds ( srcds mean source dedicated server )

it will ask you to overwite some files click yes to all or yes.

now you have to download another file which have hldms files and this is a last download ^_^

HALF-LIFE DEATHMATCH SOURCE FILES (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZZ19SUFE)

after download this file open it and you see one folder called hl1mp ,select hl1mp folder and extract or copy this folder and paste to your server installation folder.

now you have to double click on srcds.exe file and select half-life deathmatch and start your server as you like.

I followed your how-to steps but when I click the srcds.exe it doesnt do anything :(

Also, when I run the hldsupdatetool it's creating a folder called "orangebox" and puts hl2 and hl2mp in it.

C:\srcds\orangebox\hl2

but I also have:

C:\srcds\hl2

Which folder is the correct one to replace the files in?

well just ignore orangebox folder orangebox folder only for othere mods (hl2dm,tf2,cstrike,dod)

when you download http://www.filefront.com/17708520/SRCDS-FILES.rar/

open it and select all files and paste it to your c:\srcds\ ( it will overwite hl2 folder and also add some missing files)

bcz it it will overwrite some files to make it work.

i check every thing for creating server and all is fine thats why i make this thread.
Make sure your hl1mp folder should be here ( c:\srcds\hl1mp )

i know this.

but its soooo deficult for those who dont know much about computer and if i showed them,they hit there head on the wall.i mean they they dont understand and they keep doing mistakes.

Can you give me instructions for creating a server if I was using a game server rental? Should I get a HL2DM server and then upload the hl1mp into the root folder and then also add the SRCDS-FILES-DOWNLOAD files into the root? Then change command line from -game hl2mp to -game hl1mp?

Well i got mailed from Henry Bepperling and this is what he say's.
I have HL2 and HL2 deathmatch installed on my computer and your server didn't work.

i just tried it few minuts ago and its working perfect.

if any one else have problem please let me know.
