View Full Version : Munch and Stranger: can't run directly forwards

I have Munch and Stranger both working with a wired XBox pad. The controls work fine except that I can't run directly forwards - if I push the left stick at the 11 o'clock or the 1 o'clock position, the character runs, but at 12 o'clock he will only walk. Have re-calibrated the controller and it works fine in all other games - and on the Xbox.
Any ideas? Has anyone else had this?

i have a similar problem with my ecks-bawks controller. the left stick just changes character direction in munch's oddysee. i spin the stick around and he just faces that direction. like the sensitivity isnt high enough. *shrug* maybe some sort of analog thresh-hold issue?

Sorry, but that is not a similar problem at all (did you read my post?), this is a known issue. You need to go into the keyboard options and set the default movement to run - then your controller will move Abe / Munch, not just make them spin on the spot.

i see, sorry about that. it seemed like a related problem, no need to get defensive.

Didn't mean to be defensive, just so annoyed that I have wasted £10 on the broken, unplayable mess that is the Oddbox. Steam should be offering refunds for this.
Many ppl are complaining about these broken games and Steam just keeps ignoring us.

*sigh* How many years has Steam been out now? Do we really need to go over this again?
Steam does not make games. Steam is not a company. Steam is a computer application. Steam is made by Valve.
HOWEVER...
Valve did not make this game. JAW Games made this game. They're the ones who are "ignoring us". Not Steam, not Valve.
P.S. I use quotes because JAW isn't really ignoring us. They're trying. The problem is, as they've stated in previous threads and on other forum sites, they are console gamers. Therefore the concepts of "customization" and "compatibility" are foreign to them. Nothing you can do about this except be patient, and wait for them to learn as they go along.

As SanchoKobe said, we ARE working on this very hard with Stranger and also Munch.
We are hoping to get a nice Stranger update out in the next week, and then a Munch one later this month with a LOT of changes to it.
Cheers, and a Happy New Year.

Hey, wait, what the major changes for the Munch? Should I stop playing and wait for them?

If a game runs correctly (as good as it can), you'd better complete it :) If the patch added something you're interested in, you would just play it again :D
