Game Wont Run

bought this game yesterday and just finished downloading the entire thing, and it wont run, had a look around to see what the problem was with no real luck. the problem is the game launched then the screen goes black and the mouse icon changes to the ingame one but then it just bombs out to desktop without any error messages.

i tried: installing .net, dx 9.0c. disable sound in nwn.ini and nwn2.ini, verify integrity of game cache

none of these work. any help would be appreciated as this isnt exactly the smallest game to download

I'd say make sure DEP likes it. Normally DEP tells you when it closes stuff but sometimes it doesn't. This occurred a lot to me with a few games until I saw on the bottom right after the bajillionth time that "DEP has closed something!"

I'm having a problem right now, that the game won't even load the first screens. Just crashes w/ a debug report in Windows xp.

The strange thing is, when I tried to play the game from the CD (A friend played it on my PC last xmas) NWN2 played fine, no crashes until late in the game due to a quest glitch (I think...)
