Can't Leave Village

Okay, I have an interesting problem. I've gotten the silver shard, talked to some of the towns folk, and step-father sent me on my way. I go to the world map nexus point, select the inn from the list on the map screen and, and then I get sent back to the same spot at the edge of the village. I can't leave. It not like when I went into the swamp.
The village is empty. Noone anywhere. The camera and movement is all messed up. Objects blocking the camera view do not fade out.
Anyone had this happen? Is there a fix?

I figured it out. There was not enough room on the C: drive to unpack the map. I figured it would do that on drive D: where the game is installed.
