Q. What Operating Systems will Neverwinter Nights 2 work for?

Minimum:

OS: Windows® XP
Processor: Intel Pentium® 4 2.0 GHz, AMD Athlon™ XP 2000
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Graphics: 128 MB Video RAM/Shader Model 2.0 compatible

Hard Drive: 5.5 GB space free
Sound: Windows® XP compatible
Other Requirements: LAN (TCP/IP) or Broadband Internet connection

Neverwinter Nights works just as well as well on Windows 7 (Either 32-bit or 64-bit Operating Systems) as it does with Windows XP.

Q. What is Neverwinter Nights 2?

Neverwinter Nights 2 is a sequel to the popular D&D-based Neverwinter Nights. Neverwinter Nights 2 uses a modified Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 ruleset in order to represent an interactive version of the Pen-and-Paper game.

Neverwinter Nights 2 features full character creation along with classes belonging to the realm of Neverwinter itself. Multiplayer is robust with the Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolkit (referenced as a "Map Editor" by Steam), and improved content distribution.

Q. What does the Steam version of Neverwinter Nights 2 provide?

Neverwinter Nights 2 on Steam comes with the core game, Mask of the Betrayer, and Storm of Zehir all in one neat little package.
It does not include Mysteries of Westgate, but it is available through Atari's Store (http://www.atari.com/games/neverwinter_nights2_mysteries_of_westgate/pc-download).

Q. Can I register another copy of Neverwinter Nights 2 that I bought either in a store or from another distributor on Steam?

No, only games listed here (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-wusf-3601#which) can be registered on Steam.

Q. Where is the Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset?

The Neverwinter Nights 2 Toolset is actually listed as the Neverwinter Nights 2 - Platinum Map Editor. You can find this under your tools in the library.

TECHNICAL

Q. The game seems to crash, or refuses to start!

First and foremost, take a quick breath. Crashes and the like are frustrating, but this is the PC world we live in. First and foremost there are some extremely basic steps to look through.

Install DirectX using the DXSetup.exe in "Steam\steamapps\common\neverwinter nights 2\Redists\DirectX"

If that fails, try a DirectX Setup from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en).

Make sure your video card drivers are up-to-date.

ATI (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx)
nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us)
Intel (For Intel GMA) (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/)

Reinstall Visual C++ 2005 and 2008.

Visual C++ 2005 x86 (Microsoft) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647)
Visual C++ 2005 x64 (Microsoft) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=eb4ebe2d-33c0-4a47-9dd4-b9a6d7bd44da) (For 64-bit Systems Only)
Visual C++ 2008 x86 (Microsoft) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a5c84275-3b97-4ab7-a40d-3802b2af5fc2)
Visual C++ 2008 x64 (Microsoft) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=ba9257ca-337f-4b40-8c14-157cfdffee4e) (For 64-bit Systems Only)

After those are done, some people have recommended rebooting in an effort to make sure shared libraries are freed up.

Q. My anti-virus software is picking up an infection from Neverwinter Nights 2, am I infected?

No. If you look closely, the report should show something like "TR/Unpacked.Gen" (the name may change based on your security software) which is a false positive. Some of the encryption Steam uses to secure its' games trips heuristic anti-virus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antivirus_software#Heuristics) scans. You can either restore Neverwinter Nights 2 in your security software, or verify the download to get it again. You may need to set up an exception so that your security software will not quarantine it again.

Q. Steam keeps saying the game is "Unavailable".

First, read this support article (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4595-WEXN-6831).

If that doesn't change anything, it could also be your anti-virus quarantining Neverwinter Nights 2 like above. If so, you will need to add an exception for Neverwinter Nights 2. Refer to your Anti-Virus provider for specific instructions.

Q. I don't have that much disk space on C:\, can I put new or downloaded modules on another disk?

Right-click on Neverwinter Nights 2, select properties, and select "Set Launch Options". In the box type
-home "The location You Want to Save to" and click okay. Make sure that you don't have any spaces in your location.

Keep in mind that if you do this AFTER having run Neverwinter Nights 2, you will probably want to copy your content from "My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2" (WinXP) or "C:\Users\**USERNAME**\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2" (Win7/Vista[?]) to the new folder.

Q. My character seems to stutter while moving, which also causes the camera to stutter when in character mode.

A timing issue with Neverwinter Nights 2 can result in this problem depending on whether or not your computer has been running an extended amount of time. Timing is based off of a counter that the system provides, but it tends to get too big after a day.

The easiest solution is to restart your computer, however you can also use the Client Extender (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=nwn2other.Detail&id=231) written by Skywing. As of version 1.0.0.19 the Client Extender will work properly with Steam. Simply use the Launcher, and it will do everything appropriately. If you intend to use the launcher rather than the manual method, DO NOT LAUNCH NWN2 BEFORE YOU USE THE CLIENT EXTENDER LAUNCHER.

Q. There seems to be some sort of problem with the textures, muddy, missing, or just out-of-place textures are frequent.

This has been identified to be a driver problem and has reportedly been fixed with the latest. Make sure you are running with the latest drivers available. If that fails, verify your NWN2 cache by right-clicking it in the Library, clicking Properties, and verify the content.

Q. My game tends to stutter pretty badly in general. My computer is okay, but not great.

Shadows and shadow details can cause problems. Turn down the detail to minimum and see if that helps. If it is better, slowly up the details until you can find a balance of quality versus performance. On the off-chance, you might want to double-check your drivers as well.

Q. When I try to play online, I am told my keys are not registered, and I should go to Atari.com/Support. What should I do?

Go to your Neverwinter Nights 2 folder in your documents.
Look for a file named nwn2cdkey.ini and open it.
If there are no keys written to the lines Key1, Key2, and Key3, get your keys from your Steam Library by Right-Clicking Neverwinter Nights 2, and selecting View Game CD Key. The first key goes into Key1, the second key to Key2, and the last one to Key3. Save it, and try again.

You will need to enter the keys in the following format:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

If you use the -HOME command line option, your nwn2cdkey.ini will be in the folder you specified in the -home option.

GAMEPLAY

Q. What is Neverwinter Nights 2's ruleset based off of?

Neverwinter Nights 2 is based off of a modified version of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5; The ruleset itself has been modified for better use in a PC environment and while a good understanding of the 3.5 ruleset will help immensely, there are some differences to keep in mind.

If you really want the specifics, you can always pick up a Player's Handbook (http://www.amazon.com/Players-Handbook-Version-Dungeon-Roleplaying/dp/0786928867), to which would also help prepare you for a Pen-and-Paper game if you ever end up with one. Keep in mind that the latest release is the 4th Edition set and does not apply to Neverwinter Nights 2.

Q. What kind of character should I roll?

To be quite fair? Any character you want to play. You get a good opportunity to round out your party as you adventure, so there is no real need to stick to playing a Fighter (even if that's what the game would recommend). The thing to keep in mind is that you are taking a character and pitting him or her against what is coming up in the Neverwinter Nights 2 campaign.

Q. Stop being a smart[expletive] and answer the question.

For newer players I would recommend a fighter or some other high-constitution or armor-class.. class. This should help keep your character alive on his or her own a bit better, reducing dependency on micromanaging him or her specifically.

Keep in mind that during the game you aren't controlling just one character, you are in fact controlling the entire party, and using them together is what makes your character successful.

Q. What do the different stats mean on the character sheet?

Strength

Important for Fighters, Barbarians, Paladins, Rangers, and Monks.

Used to determine carry weight (which in turn determines how easily the character is encumbered (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/encumbered).)
Determines modifiers to hit with melee weapons.* (This can be determined by Dexterity if a proper "feat" is selected.)
Determines modifiers applied to damage given with melee weapons.
Used to determine successes for climbing, jumping and swimming as well as breaking down doors or forcing locks open.

Dexterity

Extremely important for Rogues.
Important for Rangers, Barbarians, and Monks.
Good idea for Wizards and Sorcerers.

Used to determine modifiers to hit with ranged weapons. (Bows, Crossbows, etc.)
Can improve Armor Class.
Used to determine modifiers to Reflex saving throws.
Used to determine successes for Hide, Move Silently, Open Lock, Sleight of Hand, Tumble and other dexterity-based skills.

Constitution

Important to all classes, Fighters moreso.

Affects the amount of hit-points earned when gaining a level.

Easier difficulties in Neverwinter Nights 2 ensure your party always rolls the "maximum" amount of hit-points you can gain when leveling up.

Used to determine modifiers to Fortitude saving throws.
Used to determine successes for spell Concentration checks.

A spellcaster in combat must make a concentration check when being distracted by combat or otherwise, else the spell will fail.

Intelligence

Important for Wizards

Affects the number of skill points gained each time a character levels up.
Determines successes for Appraise, Disable Device, Search, and others.
Wizards gain bonus spells based on their Intelligence.

Wisdom

Important for Clerics, Druids, Paladins, and Rangers.

Affects Will saving throws.
Determines successes for Heal, Spot, and other skills.
Clerics, Druids, Paladins, and Rangers gain bonus spells based on Wisdom.

Charisma

Important for Paladins, Sorcerers, Bards, and Clerics.

Determines successes for skills like Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Perform, and Use Magic Device.
Affects checks that involve trying to manipulate others.
Affects Cleric and Paladin attempts to Turn Undead.
Sorcerers and Bards gain extra spells based on their Charisma.

Q. What were those "saving throws" you talked about before?

Saving Throws are challenges to your character to resist or react to a particular situation.

Reflex Saving Throws (which are modified by Dexterity) determine if you can get away from, or reduce the amount of damage you take from traps and certain spells.

Will Saving Throws (which are modified by Wisdom) determine if you can reduce the amount of damage, or the effect of magical spells.
Fortitude Saving Throws (which are modified by Constitution) determine if you can resist or endure physical damage against your health. (Examples are Poison, Gas, or other similar attacks.)

Bought this game a few days ago via Steam for Win 7 and was having a problem where trying to load a new location after hitting the travel map would cause the entire client to crash with no real warning message beyond letting me know the client needed to be shut down. Tried updating all the previously mentioned files with no effect.

A friend of mine came up with an absolutely strange idea which ended up actually working, much to both of our confusion.

Change the Steam App itself to run compatibility mode for Vista SP2. Have had zero problems with NWN2 since. Don't know if this will work for other people or not, since the game releasing through Steam is so recent and I havn't seen anyone else have the same problem yet.

This might be a Steam-specific issue, but based on my own installation experience, and some random posts in this forum, rebooting after install appears to resolve the repeated attempts by Steam client to reinstall the redists (e.g., .net or vc runtimes, or whatever else the game needs as far as shared libraries).

Q. Will there be another official patch for NwN2? It really needs it.
At this point, probably not.

There's a lawsuit that derailed what was thought to be a v1.24 patch.

In terms of the future, NWN2 is 4+ years old now. It's being sold at what amounts to a bargain (frankly)... this is great to everyone who is coming to it as a new game, because the value for what you're paying is huge, but the revenue stream (and the lawsuit) probably mean what we've got is it.

I could be wrong obviously. There may be a spirit of charity at Obsidian and they'd be willing to work on a patch essentially for free, but I doubt it in this day/age. Then there's whether Atari would allow them to release it, etc....

I know the retail version of NWN2 is available for Mac, but will the Steam version work too?

Steam will install those libraries anyway - and as far as I understand order-of-precedence rules under Windows, the version and location Steam installs those to is the version that the game will use. Since side-by-side caching under Vista and 7 don't seem to change order of precedence, favoring the system install folder over an application-specific install location, I'm not sure any of that would help. I'm open to new information that would address my concerns though.

OTOH if by some voodoo the version you download and install overrides the version installed to the application folder, then that problem is a Valve issue and they should stop trying to install a separate copy of various redistributables (e.g., .NET, VCRT20xx,VBRTs, etc.) for what seems like all 80 games or so in my Steam library, and just use the system folder installed version. Instead, and largely due to Valves architecture, I've got 4 versions of VCRT2005, 9 versions of 2008, and 3 versions of 2010. I'd be surprised if there weren't version conflicts.

Glad to see that fixed.
Just a small quip, but what about the missing icon in Detail view in Steam? And the in the Profile?

The "Forums" link on the game is also missing/wrong

Thanks

It works. Do it this way. Right click the game's library title in steam > properties. Under the 'general' tab which should already be open, hit "set launch options". In the box type -dmc, hit ok and run the game normally. It will run as the "DM Client Beta".

My question is, when is the DM Client getting out of "beta"?

The game already comes patched to the last version

Remove them or reinstall the game

Entire system. CPU wasn't responding or anything at that point, but it's a bit strange if the DMC does that, but NOT the standard client.

You do NOT need to patch NWN2 on Steam. It is already at the latest version.

Skywing

If the entire system hangs, my guess would be a driver bug of some sort. Are you on the latest for your hardware? (It's possible that more things are drawing with the DM client there, and perhaps that is managing to touch a different code path in video drivers or whatnot.)

Been busy with work (haven't had time to do another major update to the FAQ), however I did just do a check on video and audio drivers (nVidia, Realtek audio) for anything new. No luck there. I'll try again on running the DMC with less running in the background. I do multitask massively so it could have been interference at the same time.

I have tried literally everything I can think of to get this game to work. I have tried following all steps in this thread, installing and reinstalling teh game. Installing and reinstalling the .net frameworks, c++, running the amdxp version of the game. I have disabled all my antivirus, I have tried running windowed, ad multiple resolutions, made sure nothing is in the disc tray. I have even tried some more organic fixes that involved fish scales and unicorn vomit! Nothin! I am all out of ideas of what to do here guys. Everytime I try to load the box comes up saying the game is starting, but it instantly disappears and then acts like it is loading, it tricks steam into thinking I am in game but nothing ever launches, as soon as I click somewhere else steam realizes I am not in game after all.

The only fix that I have not tried is the one that suggests obtaining an iso through another means and doing it that way. I really need your help guys, out of all the games I bought during the steam sale this is the one I REALLY looked forward too, and now it wont work.

Is there ever a NWN executable launched? If there isn't, you may want to contact support (http://support.steampowered.com) as it should fall under their jurisdiction (just be firm, yet polite). If there is one, then there's a problem with video drivers, C++, or audio drivers. Need more details.

Ill post more information once I am back on the desktop. According to Event viewer in windows it tries to launch the nwnmain.exe or whatever but it crashes shortly after. Although I never see any sign of any exe trying to launch other than the loading icon. Like I said Ill give full information later, but in the event viewer the exception code is 0x00000005 or something. I have updated my video drives to the newest available from the manufacturer website, not through the steam program. I haven't checked any audio drivers but I suppose its worth a shot. I've reinstalled both the c++ distributables.

I am really at a loss as to what it could be, but maybe you can get something out of the event viewer crash that I cannot so I will post that tomorrow. I even checked the bluetooth thing that some people suggested here and that didn't work even when I disabled it on all 3 phones.

Default Locations
Windows XP
\My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2

Windows Vista/7
C:\Users\**USERNAME**\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2

The filename is nwncdkey.ini, not nwn2cdkey.ini.

Freyar and anyone else having issues with the game client locking up your entire system - redownload your video card drivers. For whatever reason it worked, I had already the latest version of my cards' drivers however out of desperation I REdownloaded them and bam not a single crash since.

Also, tips on bugs and 'features'

1) your party members are not following/attacking this 'feature' usually occurs after an in-dungeon cutscene
Hold down your right mouse button select broadcast commands and use follow me / guard me
you also might want to disable "peaceful party follow" in the behavior tab

Bugs:
a) a certain blonde party member is missing from your party and you cannot select her at the party selection screen

activate console with the tilde key `
>debugmode 1
>rs kr_roster_edit
use the dialogue window to make your missing friend a 'campaign selectable'
>debugmode 0

b) one of your party member's claws and teeth appear in its inventory
drop the items
>debugmode 1
>givexp -10000
>givexp 10000
>debugmode 0

(in reality, i only used 3000, just enough to make him regress a level, the goal is to get him to level up again)
this should give him back his 3 attack modifiers

I just bought the game through the steam store and tried to download it... I get an error message saying: "No Steam content servers are currently configured to deliver content for this game. This will be corrected soon. Please try again in a few minutes." I have tried many times over the course of the day. The other important thing is that why offer the game if you are not letting it get downloaded, I mean I payed for it... This makes me doubtful and cautious about any future purchases...

Meh went to buy the dlc from atari store, and they wanted to charge me for an extended storage time for download. Yeah kinda stoped there and i will just wait for steam to put it online, might take a while tough.

(maybe it will take less time then there extended storage garanty :p)

Here is a new issue I found:
-The toolset actually starts with no windows at all (areas list, properties list, creatures/placeables lists, etc.). There's no way to load them from the toolset.
When I had this problem back in the days, with the standard NWN2 installation, I usually managed it deleting a file in the AppData (a hidden sistem folder), but I cannot do that by now cause Steam apparently doesn't put the WindowsConfiguration.xml file directly on the HD (or at least I couldn't figure out where).
The result is that when I start the toolset, I got a blank screen and no lists load. And of course I cannot create or modify a module.

Any suggestions? It's a bit frustrating ;)

Hi guys, I'm here because of a little trouble that I don't know how to fix (and yes, I've spent hours in front of the Steam Support's page and nothing).

The problem is actually quite simple: I was changing the resolutions of the game (in-game) and then I put one that didn1t fit my computer. Everything turned black in a moment (the game kept on running because I could hear the music). I closed the game and tried to run it again. The same blackness. Well, it's been this way ever since, I tried the Steam troubleshooting but it didn't work.

The thing is, if I could launch the game with the resolution on the minimum I might be able to fix the problem.

Ps.: and I don't feel like losing 100 hours up of gameplay =P

Thanks in advance ^^

i downloaded the game through steam and when i go to play it i get an error titled "Fatal granny instalation error.
It says granny.dll has been incorrectly installed and should be installed in an application-specific directory never in a system directory. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Not sure what this is doing in a FAQ thread, but... what install directory are you trying to use?

Don't install in the Program Files main directory.

Try Games\NWN2\... instead.

Hey, I have a question wondering if anyone can help. Ive got dual gtx 470's in SLI, i7 930, 12gb ram, empty 1tb hd and have the graphics completely maxed in the game. Naturally I expected great fps, am I right to expect that? Even with maxed graphics? The games old is it not?

Anyways, after maxing everyhting and restarting for it to take affect, I had great fps of over 100.

Now when I play it, my fps goes down to 30, averages 45 or so. What gives? Im pretty sure its not related to the reboot timing problem, I will test right now.

Any ideas? My main question is that weird? I mean what the hell sort of rig do you need to play an old game like this. My battlefield bad company 2 fps online is usually above 60fps. Soooo..Am I missing something here? Its not a big deal as the game is still quite playable with lower fps, but its damn frustrating after going from the heavenly 100+.

Any help is great,

Thanks

You should be able to max settings with those specs.

I play on an i5 760 OC with GTX 275 OC in SLI, and have no issues. 60fps (vsync), so I'm not sure why you would only hit ~45 fps. Does your fps go back up to ~100fps after you restart your computer and launch NWN2 again? If so, you might have the issue described on page 1 of this thread.

Okay, so ive dont lotsa trouble shooting, but my new problem is NVW2 only stresses one of my gpus, the 2nd gpu is being stressed like 5 or 10 percent. Whats with that? Both cards are stressed evenly in BC2.

So..where are the manuals? Where is the best place to check all the 3.5 related rules?

TBKenie

Velvetmeds - I am assuming that you are asking about the hardcopy rules that NVN2 is based upon …

The 3.x Edition D&D rules were originally developed/published by Wizards of the Coast (a Hasbro subsidiary). NVN2 is loosely based upon the 3xE rules, where x is either 0 or .5.

The official 3.5E WotC website: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/archives are just archives as WotC is trying their darn best to erase the 3.5E ruleset as they’re trying (hopefully unsuccessfully IMHO) to get players to upgrade to the 4E ruleset (that the upcoming Neverwinter MMO might be using).

The following link is for an OGL (Open Gaming License) 3.5E D&D website: http://www.d20srd.org/ which is probably the best resource for 3.5E short of buying the actual books. However, since this is the OGL version, none of the proprietary WotC (and possibly other publishers as well) material are present (e.g., Beholder stats).

This link is for Paizo’s Pathfinder RPG (aka 3.75E): http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ . This publisher is a variant/upgrade of the 3.5E ruleset. As far I as know, there are no computer games based upon this particular variant.

DDO Online (DDO Unlimited Online), a MMORPG, is based upon the 3.5E Eberron world (not the Forgotten Realms that NVN2 is based upon) with changes to the ruleset as needed to make a first-/third-person POV work. Plus, they (meaning Turbine/Timer Warner?) too are involved in a Hasbro/WotC lawsuit.

If you’re referring to the actual NVN2 manual, a quick google search produced two links that still work (YMMV): http://gameofthrones.net/index.php/downloads/doc/17/raw and/or http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/NWN2/index_tips.php. The (old) bioware forums had several links that didn’t work. I haven’t looked at the “new” Bioware forums since the two above links work and I found my original NVN2 manual though my originals CDs were lost/destroyed a while ago.

Hi there,

Pardon me for a newbie's question but #3 of the FAQ mentions that I can buy Mysteries of Westgate from Atari store... in the US. Will it be compatible with NWN2 Platinum obtained through Steam in Europe?

If it does - do I have to somehow import/register MoW in Steam?

I want to know my options before I buy NWN2 Platinum.

PS. It's a shame that it's impossible to register a box version of NWN2 on Steam...

Thanks!

There are a number of people in various internet forums who have posted about a crash issue in NWN2 Platinum with Windows 7, where an AppHangB1 error is generated. For me, this was preceded by a lockup of the game with the last second of sound looping until I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and killed the game process. This could happen a couple minutes into a game, or not quite through the title screens.

After messing around with DirectX, codecs, drivers, ini files, Steam launch options, etc...I disabled all sound devices except the one needed for my speakers. No more sound looped freeze up at all.

What's more, an issue I had with both the Steam version of Fallout 3 and non-Steam Star Control 2 (yes, really) losing sound output after no more than a few minutes of gameplay (sometimes a matter of seconds) seems to have gone away. I'm using the onboard sound of my P67A-GD65 board, which is a Realtek ALC892 chip.

Something about the way Win 7 (and Vista) handle the sound device polling...

I seem to be out of options. I have that annoying game-killing crash, the one where the screen stutters and dumps me out onto my desktop. sometimes it stutters again when I'm on the desktop and dumps me back into the game un-crashed, but most of the time it just crashes and windows tells me: "the program has stopped working". The time varies, sometimes i can play for fifteen minutes, other times it crashes only seconds after I've loaded my game. Once it crashed while i was in the main menu.

I have tried everything I've seen on the forums, I've validated my install a dozen times, uninstalled and re-installed three times, updated my video and sound drivers, downloaded the Direct X Redistributables (from Steam and Microsoft), updated Direct X in general, disabled my antivirus, run both NVN2 and the Steam client in a variety of compatibility modes (all of the ones available for windows Vista and XP), made sure all the files in the game folder are not "read only", downloaded and run Skywing's NWN2 Client Extension, Set the game to Max Affinity, Ran it as an administrator, monitored my PC for overheating, and even tried all these options in a variety of combinations!

Have the same problem. The "up" arrow does nothing.

I tried changing language from english to German or French. It's appears as other languages don't use letters, as all menus and buttons are simply blank.

This stumped the hell out of me too for a while, until I realized that the way character creation works is that you select the race, then pick from the subrace menu by clicking "Next".

This is especially confusing because for some reason only one subrace will show up as an option in the right pane, until you actually click 'Next'. Like Fire Genasi for Planetouched and Shield Dwarves for Dwarves. Rest assured you'll be able to get to the other subraces by hitting 'Next'.

I've tried everything listed here to get my game to launch. Originally it just had a crashing problem, but I thought trying to use some other fixes might help. Sadly, all they did was make it worse.

My game says that it is preparing to launch, then does nothing else. I've downloaded the C++ 2005 and 2008 files, redone the DirectX, reinstalled the game (three times total), and I've tried updating my graphics card. Nothing seems to work. I've also tried running it in compatibility with Vista selected, but it just gets into a boot loop where my computer asks if I'd like to allow it to run over and over until I eventually click no.

Thoughts?

Also: I am a noob where hardware is concerned. If I need to post anything here related to that, let me know. I'm playing on a laptop.

I've running Windows 7.
My Graphics Card name under dxdiag is "Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics."

I found with other games that disabling FXAA in your Nvidia control panel can prevent crashes related to just starting up the game.

Atari does not sell anymore the Mysteries of Westgate expansion, how can we get it?
