Hi, I bought this game when it was on sale so I could play it again(the cd version of the game was destroyed). I installed it, and wanted to play it today and this is what happened:

It popped up the box for the first time loading it, then the screen when dark as if it was loading, then popped up the window's 7 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has stopped working, windows can check online to solve the issue. >Check online to resolve the issue and close the program >Close the program >Debug the program.'

No idea what is causing it to crash. I looked over some of the topics, and nothing is looking like it is working for me.

Additional info from the crash window:

Many people's games have crashed while movies are playing (and three play during start-up). You can fix this by finding the game's folder... something like

Program Files -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> swkotor.

In here there are two things you could try. You could load up the 'swconfig' file and turn off movies (some people have found turning off the hardware mouse helps too). But something way simpler worked for me.

256 colours! Right click on the swkotor file, head for the compatability tab, and tell it to run in 256 colours. This fixed every problem I had, and even made the game look more vibrant, too.

Actually, I forgot to update this, but I fixed it about a half hour after I posted this. When I updated my video card drivers, I updated with the wrong ones. I updated the right ones and everything was fine.

Thanks for this. Completely fixed all the problems I was having with the game.
