Altitude freezes after it can't finish UDP handshake or whatever :(

What OS and video card are you running? You probably need to update your video drivers directly from their manufacturer (e.g. ati.com, nvidia.com, or intel.com -- Windows Update does not provide suitable OpenGL drivers). If that doesn't work please try the standalone version from http://altitudegame.com/download.html . You could also try disabling the Steam community overlay (which pops up near the end of UDP handshake on some machines).

I have about 4 hours played no problems before on my setup... I'll try updating the video card drivers ... but the freeze only occurs after it says failed to connect to authentication servers which makes me think it isn't video card driver related. Are the servers down?
Thanks!

Weird. The servers are definitely up. Are you sure nothing changed on your machine after the 4 hours of successful playtime (automatic updates, firewall/network configuration)? Please email the files in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\altitude\log to support@nimblygames.com and I'll take a look.
